The 1% don't like us, either

Someone finally polled the 1% — And it's not pretty

by AuriandraFollow

On May 22, The Campaign for America's Future gave a conference on The New Populist Majority. The keynote speaker was Elizabeth Warren. The conference confronted the meme that the US is a "center-right" country.

Most interesting to me was the fact that they obtained poll results from "the 1%." Typically, "upper income" in polling is considered "over $250K/yr" or even "over $150K/yr." Such people are rich compared to most, but they do not have enough money to buy elections with their spare change.

The poll results for this comparison came from the Russell Sage Foundation. "Elites" are defined as at or near "the 1%" in wealth with an average income of $1M/yr or more. The perspectives of this group are compared to responses from other polls such as Pew and Gallup.

The poll results are below the squiggle.

If you didn't think it's an all out war with these pigs, think again after you read the results.

It is.

In my experience, those with 150k+ in income line up with those results also. As Veblen noted way back, conservative ideas gain a lot of their popularity via basic snobbery: a desire to hold the views of those the person looks up to, which for someone making that sort of money, would of course be someone making even more. You don't get to that sort of income by not admiring the ones who make the most.

Let's make sure we elect MORE of the 1%ers that will do nothing for the rest of US.

Despite overwhelming popularity Social Security, public education and American labor remain under attack. They remain under attack because the 1% wants it that way and only they matter.

That's why I keep hoping enterprising home woodworkers will start turning out scale model guillotines to post on their unmarked driveways and the roads to their private airports.

Remind them what stiffing labor can cost them.
