(6,783 posts)My silver plan premium will approach $5000 annually representing over 80% of my expected income (I am a sole unpaid caregiver for a parent and have only incidental and investment income).
I will not be eligible for Medicaid because my state has elected not to participate.
Because my income is below the poverty level I will not be eligible for tax credits.
In addition, the high deductible plan I currently carry (and which is appropriate given my health and available assets) will become non-existent.
I hope the information at his site is wrong. I had really hoped for and expected something considerably better. This is unacceptable to me. More a detriment than an improvement.

I think you will find completely different results. Don't know about this, it seems very high and in a way is being offered to undermine ACA real premium results and to shine a negative lite on Obamacare..I don't trust it at all..I entered income etc at healthcare.gov and got completely deferent results and very favorable results. In Indiana with our Tea Bagger governor he will not accept the federal funding for increasing Medicaid nor the federal funds that would offer subsidies. Now with most red state states(with these Tea Bagger govs) this will be the status quo and the ACA could be dead in the water in those states.

(6,783 posts)and since I anticipate relocating after dad passes I will need to secure coverage through a national carrier. I will contact several of them directly for a quote.
My internet access at dads is largely limited to access via cell phone or nearby wi-fi access at McDonalds.
Hope I find something better than what this site suggests.

(6,994 posts)because I entered my wife's info and our household income on healthcare.gov and premium quotes were much less than what was quoted on this site (by about 65% less) so I think it is a way to undermine the real ACA premiums amounts.

(6,783 posts)Thanks.
I am going to start by making calls to Blue Cross, Humana and United Health.
What I really expect is a slightly higher premium with better coverage, a smaller maximum annual potential out of pocket expense, and no more worries about coverage being cancelled.
A subsidy or tax credit would be a bonus given my current financial and employment situation.
And the access to this kind of healhcare coverage makes it possible for me to entertain the possibility of starting my own little business at some point in the future.
Hope my expectations are met.
