1. I don't think the Gestapo

would have left him at the border without a bullet hole or two.

Besides the over the top comparison to Nazi's it's a serious problem. Because border guards have pretty much no safeguards or repercussions for being assholes I'm not convinced anything will change.

It's embarrassing and disturbing.

3. Border Patrol can be real assholes. We have had problems with them, our local buses have notices in

them stating we do not have to answer any questions, with numbers to call in case they harass you. Traveling through Canada driving from AK to AK, I loved the Canadian border patrol but loathed (yes, strong word) the USAnian ones, and that was before "everything changed on 9/11".

4. That sounds familiar

I remember taking a day trip to Canada and the Canadian border guards were very friendly and pleasant. Coming back, the American border guards were complete assholes. And this was in 1997.

5. He should have named those involved

I know there is a fair amount of jackassery and ignorance from customs officials, but this just sounds over-the-top...
