Former Prisoner: For-Profit Prisons Churning Out Waves Of Violent White Supremacists
The nations for-profit prisons have been incubating thousands of Aryan Brotherhood gang members and, as their sentences expire, they are prepared to flood the nation. This wave of white supremacist gang members will emerge from the nations prisons and engage in a terrorist campaign of targeted revenge which will soon evolve into indiscriminant mayhem and racial violence. At least, this is the warning of an anonymous former prisoner writing for The Daily Beast.
Law enforcement may have a real problem on its hands, writes a former prisoner who declined to share his name in a piece recently published in The Daily Beast. Theyre being tight-lipped about it, but its something they should have been aware of for decades. They had to see it coming.
Four people have been killed since the beginning of the year in a series of shootings that appear to be connected to the homegrown jihadists of the Aryan Brotherhood, Anonymous asserts. He cites the murders of Kaufman County, Texas District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, his predecessor Mark Hass, and Colorado prison chief Tom Clements as examples of bloodshed committed by the Aryan Brotherhood. Reports have linked the assassination of McLelland to his targeting by Aryan Brotherhood members.
The writer goes on to detail the ideology that motivates the average Aryan Brotherhood member: ...

(1,372 posts)You keep all the drugs illegal and the gangs selling drugs
Arrest all the entrepreneurial spirits and teach them white supremacy
Take all the gang members and teach them better ways of dealing drugs
and refill the prisons.
Send out the white supremacists to wreak havoc on immigrants in order
to rebuild the white race to energize the Repuke party.
Degrade the American corporations so they need lower class workers
so they hire ex-cons and keep the wages low. Ship jobs overseas in order
to keep wages low
And keep channeling the corporate dollars to the wealthy.
One problem - Who is going to have the money to buy the product and keep
the corporations in business? They haven't figured out the answer to that one yet!

It is very hard to keep real communications private, no matter how much Nixon, Johnson, Petraeus, classified embassy traffic, etc. Why can't we uncover some real evidence rather than a lot of causal analysis?

Much has been made of Governor Brewers intimate ties to Corrections Corporation of America.
Her Chief of Staff, Paul Senseman, is a former CCA lobbyist, and his wife is currently a lobbyist
or the company. Brewers campaign manager and senior policy advisor, Chuck Coughlin, runs
a consulting firm that also lobbies for CCA in Arizona. Brewer accepted a total of $60,000 in
contributions from people associated with CCA for her campaign and the tax increase initiative
that she was pushing last year. The scandal made waves after the passage of SB1070,
raising questions about CCAs role in drafting legislation that would potentially provide the
company with millions more in contracts for immigrant detention facilities in Arizona.
But Brewer is hardly the only powerful politician in Arizona with ties to this influential industry.
A Cell-Out Arizona investigation has revealed that John Kavanagh (R-8), Chair of the
House Appropriations Committee, has accepted numerous campaign contributions from
lobbyists and others associated with Geo Group, the nations second largest private prison
company and one of the bidders for a contract to build and manage 5,000 new prison beds in Arizona.

This Thursday, SB-1070, Arizonas radical new immigration law, will go into effect.
Despite an incoming lawsuit from the Obama administrations Department of Justice,
Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ) has maintained that her state will prevail, claiming that
she is simply defending the border integrity and safety of her state.
Yet a new investigation by local Arizona TV news station CBS 5 finds that the Brewer
administration may have ulterior motives for its strong support of the new law.
The station has found that two of Brewers top advisers have connections to
private prison giant Corrections Corporation of America (CCA).
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/20110904arizona-prison-business-politics.html
Corrections Corp. of America, the country's largest private-prison operator, says it
thrives by offering better service at a lower cost than state-run prisons. It's an argument
echoed by the three smaller rivals bidding on a 5,000-bed private-prison contract
with the state of Arizona.
But when it comes to other ways of winning business, such as employing platoons of lobbyists,
doling out campaign contributions and working through political connections, CCA stands
head and shoulders above its competitors, in Arizona and across the country.
document Read prisons cost report
It isn't easy to disentangle the complicated political and financial connections between a
company and the public officials whose policy decisions can help or harm its business. But
critics accuse CCA of using its financial might and political connections to influence decision
makers and muscle its way to multimillion-dollar deals behind closed doors.

to support the wealthy (especially Lyin Ryan) shows that they are bought by
big business and the wealthy. Why is it that lobbying isn't illegal?

(8,821 posts)For-profit prisons use large numbers of trustees to cut costs. If the trustees in charge of your cell block happen to be White Supremacists, you might be well-advised to show interest in becoming one as well. See how that works?
Thus we have another very good reason to oppose for-profit prisons.

(4,695 posts)This provides a link for me with the fact that in the 1980s and 1990s the Texas birth of no child left behind was pushed initially to provide a phonetic language program to so many Texas students behind grade level in language-reading, writing, and spelling. As many of you know, that program became a privatized special education computer program by Jeb Bush that was a disaster. So the illiteracy rate in Texas sent out children still unable to read and write on grade level. Students with more severe dyslexia usually have a reading level of third grade.
No wonder these men could not get along in society. Of course it is a lot of other things too. Could this be a lesson or is a wake up call to vouchering education in America instead of making sure that every child is correctly served in his neighborhood school? What are they supposed to do when they get out of prison? It is expected that they will go back in.
What other institutions have failed these men?
They do have a church in Idaho. Reverend Butler is their minister.

(1,831 posts)There is a massive moral equivalency happening in America right now. It finds commonality with politicians, drug dealers (legal and other...), military contractors, and all those in it for the buck. It also is a side effect of our forced failed public school system.
It is a type of devolution. The backsliding in society is real and frightening.
But hey, maybe an environmental collapse will render it all moot.
