National Review Op-Ed Says Shooting Caused By ‘Too Many Women’ At School
Yeah. Don't know why my head exploded, reading this one... I should be used to psychotic wackjob ravings by now...The ultra-conservative National Review, who earlier suggested that Newtown was the price of the Second Amendment, recently ran an editorial from rabid anti-feminist, Charlotte Allen, who implied that the shooter was able to kill with so ease due to Newtown being a feminized setting. Thats right, if it werent for all those damn ladies doing their nails, washing dishes and performing the Vagina Monologues then not a single kid wouldve been harmed.
"There was not a single adult male on the school premises when the shooting occurred. In this school of 450 students, a sizeable number of whom were undoubtedly 11- and 12-year-old boys (it was a K6 school), all the personnel the teachers, the principal, the assistant principal, the school psychologist, the reading specialist were female. There didnt even seem to be a male janitor to heave his bucket at Adam Lanzas knees. Women and small children are sitting ducks for mass-murderers. The principal, Dawn Hochsprung, seemed to have performed bravely. According to reports, she activated the schools public-address system and also lunged at Lanza, before he shot her to death. Some of the teachers managed to save all or some of their charges by rushing them into closets or bathrooms. But in general, a feminized setting is a setting in which helpless passivity is the norm. Male aggression can be a good thing, as in protecting the weak but it has been forced out of the culture of elementary schools and the education schools that train their personnel. Think of what Sandy Hook might have been like if a couple of male teachers who had played high-school football, or even some of the huskier 12-year-old boys, had converged on Lanza. "

(23,156 posts)shoved all of the men out of the elementary schools.
There are far more complicated reasons why it's mostly women at that level of teaching. There really need to be more men in elementary schools. but not for what this idiot thinks. An all-female or all-male workplace is almost never a good idea for reasons unrelated to gun violence, but totally pertinent to what each gender brings to the workplace.
Oh, and she also doesn't seem to know that there were no kids over the age of 9 or 10 at that school.

(20,772 posts)Because, yanno, a male janitor heaving a bucket at him would have stopped Adam Lanza in his tracks!
And everyone knows women are too fragile and timid to heave buckets.
