Allen West's legacy: Recounts for everyone!
No harm in recounting paper ballots, but no legal basis for it

First, when redistricting made his re-election a challenge, Congressman Allen West fled from Broward County. Now, after the votes from his new turf have been counted and partially recounted, West is taking flight from reality ...
He cares so much about making sure votes count that rules and laws and the rule of law don't matter.
I just hope Republicans remember this the next time a Democratic candidate who's on the short end of a tally decides to make up things as they go along and badger election officials into doing things they're not legally required to do ...
This is the point where West needs to wave the white flag, call off the lawyers and say, "Congratulations Congressman-elect Murphy. I concede."

(7,515 posts)He kept his slice of northeastern Palm Beach County and he won that by 190 votes. He won his slice of the always red Martin County by a bit over 10,000 votes. He miscalculated the leanings of St Lucie County and lost there by 13,000+ votes. What's even lovelier, look at all the money he spent compared to Murphy...A thing of beauty to behold.
District 18 Allen West (R)* $17,078,485
Patrick Murphy (D) $3,675,533
