Republicans Label President Obama and the American People the Enemy
The concept of patriotism is fierce devotion to ones country, and it is supposed to override differences caused by the individual geographical locations and philosophies inherent in varying cultures and ideology within a nation. Nationalism is a form of patriotism based on a group of individuals identification with a nation, and it belies the belief that citizenship should be limited to any one ethnic, religious, or philosophical conviction, and yet after the re-election of President Obama, the notion of nationalism and a unified population appears to be non-existent among Republican supporters. After nearly four years, the hate manifest toward President Obama and his supporters is candid and intense, and portends trouble for America.
Over the past three days, there has been a flurry of condemnation aimed at the President and astonishingly, the majority of Americans who supported his re-election. The vitriol against voters who did not support Willards bid for the White House is stunning in an alleged United States, and it has engendered calls for revolt, secession, assertions that over half of the country are parasites, and in California, a racist remark accompanied by hope President of the United States gets assassinated.

(1,372 posts)Just because the Dems accept that we have people who need financial help doesn't mean we want to keep shelling out tax dollars to support the needy.
Why don't they get a group to look into the best path forward to
help people get trained and get off welfare.
The funny thing is that by figuring out how to do that, they need to figure out how to create jobs which is what we all need anyway.
Why is this so difficult for people to see?

Once made that charge referring to the opposition, mainly the racist bigoted teabag right, and was vilified for it from the likes of the conservative media and hypocrites like Rush, Hannity, M. Savage and others. Before and since then I've been hearing these same people call those on the left everything from terrorist to enemies of this country with no backlash...my question is how do they get the right and a free pass to do this??

(205,664 posts)The Republicans declared "war" on President Obama from the moment he took office. Instead of working for their constituents, and addressing pressing issues, they worked on making him "a one-term president." What a waste of time and energy and it certainly hurt Americans on both sides of the aisle.
I'm reminded of Barry Goldwater. Remember seeing him on one of the late night shows, think it was Leno, in his twilight years. Jay attempted to bait him, asked him what he thought of then-President Clinton, but Goldwater, the elder statesman, refused to be baited. He proudly said that he wouldn't be drawn into criticism of Clinton because "he's my president, too."
Wish we could return to those days and that mindset.
