Robert Reich: The true source of economic uncertainty is Mitt Romney
In which Robert Reich explains why the meme that President Obama's policies are causing "economic uncertainty" are bullshit and how Romney's non-existent policies are where the uncertainty really lies...
. . .
Yet, paradoxically, not a day goes by that we dont hear Romney, or some other exponent of the GOP, claim that businesses arent creating more jobs because theyre uncertain about the future. And the source of that uncertainty, they say, is President Obama especially his Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and the Dodd-Frank Act, and uncertainties surrounding Obamas plan to raise taxes on the wealthy.
In fact, Romney has created far more uncertainty. He offers a virtual question mark of an economy
For example, Romney says if elected hell repeal Obamacare and replace it with something else. He promises hell provide health coverage to people with pre-existing medical problems but he doesnt give a hint how hed manage it.
Insurance companies wont pay the higher costs of insuring these people unless they have extra funds which is why Obamacare requires that everyone, including healthy young people, buy insurance. Yet Romney doesnt say where the extra money to fund insurers would come from. From taxpayers? Businesses?
Talk about uncertainty.
Romney also promises to repeal Dodd-Frank, but here again hes mum on what hed replace with. Yet without some sort of new regulation of Wall Street were back to where we were before 2008 when Wall Street crashed and brought most of the rest of us down with it.

(4,982 posts)2. It's stunning to me the crap that goes ignored about Romney
Stuff that if it were Obama or any Dem - would be enough to completely disqualify them from the race. HUGE scandal.
But when a Repub is involved in same - it's not even mentioned. It's testimony to who and what controls our media in this country. And it's not "liberals". Big corps and their asskisser politicans (mostly Repubs) control most all of the U.S. media, the Congress and the Supreme Court. That needs to change.

Prevent discrimination against individuals with pre-existing conditions who maintain continuous coverage
