Saying What Can't Be Said: Israel Has Been Defeated a Total Defeat
The war's aims won't be achieved, the hostages won't be returned through military pressure, security won't be restored and Israel's international ostracism won't end
We've lost. Truth must be told. The inability to admit it encapsulates everything you need to know about Israel's individual and mass psychology. There's a clear, sharp, predictable reality that we should begin to fathom, to process, to understand and to draw conclusions from for the future. It's no fun to admit that we've lost, so we lie to ourselves.

(9,408 posts)A new pan-Semitic, anti-Hamas, anti-Islamic Jihad, anti-Hezbollah, anti-Houthi, anti Iran coalition is emerging from the all-around clusterfuck of the current Gaza conflict. Arab countries are waking up to the errors of the past that created the culture of terrorism and martyrdom which they failed to contain and is now threatening to devour them all along with Israel.
Suddenly (well, not so suddenly and rather predictably) Hamas, along with all other militant Palestinian factions, are the mortal enemy of every established regime in the Middle East. Israel is no longer isolated in opposing institutionalized terrorism and its devastating effects on the region, including Gaza. It is a promising development, particularly for the Palestinians, who can now stop focusing on destroying Israel and start focusing on building their own state.
The only thing that surprises me is how quickly things are developing in this direction. The sole objective of Hamas in starting the war with Israel is to prevent, or at least delay the establishment of ties between Israel and the Arab states. Instead, the process got accelerated in multiple increments.
I wouldn't call it losing a war.
