Netanyahu is obstacle to peace says top Democrat Chuck Schumer as he calls for new Israeli elections

Senate majority leader says Israeli prime minister has ‘lost his way’ and warns that country risks becoming ‘a pariah’

(snip)

In prepared remarks obtained by the Associated Press, Schumer said the prime minister had put himself in a coalition of far-right extremists and “as a result, he has been too willing to tolerate the civilian toll in Gaza, which is pushing support for Israel worldwide to historic lows”.

“Israel cannot survive if it becomes a pariah,” Schumer said.

(snip)

Schumer has so far positioned himself as a strong ally of the Israeli government, visiting the country just days after the brutal 7 October attack by Hamas and giving a lengthy speech on the Senate floor in December decrying “brazen and widespread antisemitism the likes of which we haven’t seen in generations in this country, if ever”.

But he said on the Senate floor on Thursday that the “Israeli people are being stifled right now by a governing vision that is stuck in the past”.

But I think the Israelis will let him level Gaza before they remove him. And enough of them will keep Israel from rebuilding Gaza afterward as long as the Palestinians remain. He'll be there for a while longer still.

If most Israelis are truly pro trump, you can see where they're headed. Israel has become like Texas or Tennessee or Oklahoma.

I don't believe it to be a monolith, but in general, they have given up on the idea or ethos of working for the survival of the human species to survive long enough in order to eventually spread out beyond the Earth.

Their ethos now is simply every person for them self and if that person is a billionaire, they're under the belief that they can just build islands, mega-shelters or escape craft.

That's why global warming climate change doesn't mean anything to them other than opportunities for profit, ie: drill in the Arctic when that all melts.

They find any detectable fracture within the foundation of human society and work to exploit or widen them.

They play on peoples fears and prejudices for power's sake.

Hamas' top leadership isn't even in Gaza and I believe Netanyahu is owned by oligarchs subsidizing his corruption, in this way he isn't any different than *rump.
