Rush to report US health ruling trips up CNN, Fox

NEW YORK — In the rush to report the Supreme Court's health care decision on Thursday, CNN and Fox News Channel initially got the story wrong, briefly worrying President Barack Obama, delighting Republican lawmakers and reminding journalists that accuracy trumps speed.

It was an excruciating test for reporters who were handed a 59-page decision choked with legalese and asked to report its meaning almost instantly.

Bloomberg News and The Associated Press were the first reporting the news — correctly, at 10:07 a.m. EST — that the court upheld most of Obama's health care overhaul and a mandate that nearly every American have health insurance. They were followed by Reuters and the SCOTUSblog.

The New York Times made a point of tweeting that reporters and editors were analyzing the decision and would write when comfortable it had the nuances correct, and tweeted the news first at 10:20 a.m.

to read/understand the decision.

When I saw "mandate struck down" here, I was about to sink into major depression. Then, the good members started coming through with the correct results. It was actually an exciting few minutes.

And FOX, never fair and never balanced.

This is all a result of the rush to be the first with the story. The non journalist that prevail in todays media don't verify their stories, they just rush to air the first things they hear and worry not about facts.

but CNN, I've always figured that CNN had a slight ( whispered... conservative leaning), but today it was there for all of US to see. That's why I've not watched nor has depended on CNN Cable News, for my news source in years..., I figure out years ago that CNN was NOT as "fair and balanced" as it should have been. Today I've vindicated myself, as I've stated-"I've not watched nor has depended on CNN Cable News, for my news source in years...,"
