Here's a partial lineup of hired guns and organizations behind the anti-labeling advertising blitz soon to hit the California airwaves.

What do a former mouthpiece for tobacco and big oil, a corporate-interest PR flack, and the regional director of a Monsanto-funded tort reform group have in common?

They’re all part of the anti-labeling PR team that will soon unleash a massive advertising and PR campaign in California, designed to scare voters into rejecting the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act.

In November, California voters will vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on a law to require mandatory labeling of all GMO ingredients in processed foods, and ban the routine industry practice of mislabeling foods containing GMO ingredients as ‘natural.’

Polls show that nearly 90% of the state’s voters plan to vote ‘yes.’ But when November rolls around, will voter support still be strong? Not if the biotech, agribusiness, and food manufacturers industries can help it. .................(more)

It all seems a little self destructive to me. If I were the head of a corporation, I would like to know what I was eating. I guess I can't relate to them.

4. The head of the corporation should know what their corporation puts in their food products.

I realize your point was about the head of a corporation knowing what another corporation put in their food. We have to ask ourselves if the swiss study of 147 core firms with ownership stakes in nearly all other corporations grants the head of a corporation the right to know what another corporation puts in their food. Since they are all tied together at the financial hip, and money is the only god these corporate people know, the answer appears to be yes. It seems the corporations would know what their extended corporate family puts in all their products.

They just don't want consumers to know what's in corporate food products.

6. I wonder about

The sudden on slaught of all this gut trouble in America. Half the people I know have gluten allergies that have just cropped up- no pun intended. All the new need for "pro-biotic" supplements is from all the effing round-up in our god damned food. And then there are all the effing antibiotics pumped in to the feed lot cattle because, they were never meant to be forced to eat effing corn silege. It cuts up their guts.

Our family farms are being so far out competed by super factory corporate operations.
