With all those that are getting eviction notices in the next few weeks, keep in mind that if you no longer have a permanent address because you were evicted, your drivers license is no longer valid with that address, which means you can no longer use it for VOTING until you get another permanent address.... Moscow Mitch is counting on this because all he has to do is contact the banks and demand the list of all people that lost their homes and apartments and compare them to the voter rolls....There goes another 8-12 million people that can't vote....am I crazy, or does this sound like what is going on?...

In practical terms, your DL is still valid. Plus, in a lot of states all you need to do is show up, state your name, maybe your birth date, and you get to vote.

I've been in New Mexico since 2008. Before that I was in Kansas. Before that in Colorado. Before that in Arizona. Before that in Minnesota. Before that in Virginia. That goes back to 1972. I have never had to show additional proof of who I am in all these years. And honestly, if I were asked for anything, I'd raise a huge stink. I show up. I tell them who I am. I maybe answer another question or two. Then I vote.

I have lived and voted in several different states. My essential point is, don't let some sort of bullshit like you recently became homeless keep you from voting. Because the people at the polling place have zero way of knowing where you currently live. Clearly, if you'd been planning on voting by mail, your recently homelessness might be a problem. But go to the polling place and vote.

Maybe I've been unusually lucky in where I've lived. But back to my original point, just because you may have had the grave misfortune of becoming homeless, do NOT let that keep you from voting. Because your registration is still valid. Don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise, least of all someone here on DU.

I just know how the republicons work and I would not be surprised that they would try to do vote suppression on these people that lost their homes and apartments... and if they remove you from the voter rolls because you lost your home, would be a grave misfortune, but not surprising at all..
