For the love of god do not vote for my dad, the daughter of a Republican candidate for Michigans House of Representatives pleaded this week in a tweet that went wildly viral. Tell everyone, added Stephanie Regan.
Her father, Robert Regan, whos running for the 73rd District in Grand Rapids, attributed the clash in an interview Thursday with The Hill to the Marxist brainwashing his daughter was sucked into at the university she attended.
Stephanie Regan didnt go into detail about why voters shouldnt back her right-wing dad but she pleaded with people to do their homework.
I dont feel safe sharing further information regarding his beliefs, but please look him up and just read for yourself, she tweeted.

Political campaigns can wreak havoc on a family. Especially when a candidates child openly opposes them.
Thats the predicament in which Robert Regan, Republican candidate for Michigan State Representative, finds himself.
Regan is a red-blooded Republican who previously described himself as so conservative that he makes Rush Limbaugh look like a liberal and boasted about being the first candidate to support President Donald Trump. His issues include making English the official language in Michigan, opposing all forms of immigration reform (which Regan calls a codeword for amnesty), opposing abortion, and restoring Michigans constitutional militia.
Those issues dont sit well with Regans daughter, Stephanie (@streeganz). On Tuesday, she tweeted a simple message regarding her fathers campaign: If youre in Michigan and 18+ pls for the love of god do not vote for my dad for state rep. Tell everyone.
The tweet exploded, racking up more than 100,000 likes and 21,000 retweets. Stephanie posted a follow-up tweet yesterday: Since so many people are asking it is Robert Regan! Do a quick fb or google search to find info about his campaign. I dont feel safe rn sharing further information regarding his beliefs, but please look him up and just read for yourself.

(257 posts)But based upon how she wanted people to simply read on him and make their own determination and his response was the usual verbal diarrhea I am thinking this young woman has pretty good reasons to say this.
If I were a candidate and my child was against my candidacy and felt strongly enough to speak out publicly I think I would end my candidacy in embarrassment. The thought of having to answer questions about it would just further my embarrassment.
My $ is on he said racist things about minorities being the biggest issue with LGBTQ+ hate slurs a close second....

Granted, it wasn't an anonymous denunciation, but you only make denunciations anonymous when you're fighting somebody with less power.
The rest is on par with, "I'm not saying my father f--ks, goats, I'd never say that."
And the usual assumption. Even here, since she said "check it out" there must be something there, so why bother to check it out?
In my lowly capacity as a fellow grad student to my peers, I'd sometimes proof their dissertations. Many weren't native English speakers. And, to be fair, some had sucky Russian or Old Russian skills. Sometimes I'd proof them before defense, sometimes after, to clean up punctuation, let's say. More than once I ran into translations (which were required, and required to be done by the dissertator) that were embarrassingly wrong. In more than one case, things were cited as evidence that either had nothing to do with the point or contradicted (once understood) the point being made. That something was cited as evidence was taken as evidence that it was valid evidence. I even saw Lore ipsum text a time or two after defense.
