Donald Trump says church buildings are 'essential.' God disagrees

Donald Trump says that church buildings are “essential.”

He wants governors who have closed houses of worship to prevent the spread of coronavirus to immediately reopen them.

He added, “The governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now, for this weekend. If they don’t do it, I will override the governors.”

-snip-

Churches are helpful. Churches afford believers a sense of community and camaraderie.

But I recall a priest delivering a sermon on the subject ochurches, talking about the Bible verse (Matthew 18:20) where Jesus says, For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

The priest made a joke with the congregation, saying something along the lines of, “While I’m glad you’re all here, and I really do need this job, it doesn’t even take two or three of us to have the Lord with us. We’re able to have that on our own, any time we want.”

...when it comes to testing (according to Trump).

But when it comes to churches and their impact on local communities, the President apparently should take the helm.
