A person with HIV is an expense for everyone here in Brazil, says Bolsonaro

According to the captain, the sexual abstinence program was created because the PT preached that anything goes and reached a point of total depravity
President Jair Bolsonaro decided to speak out about the governments campaign that encourages sexual abstinence as a prevention of early pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Upon leaving the Palácio da Alvorada, on the morning of Wednesday 5th, Bolsonaro said that a person living with HIV is an expense for everyone in Brazil.
A person with HIV, besides being a serious problem for them, is an expense for everyone here in Brazil, dsaid the president, who reported as an example the case of a young woman who supposedly had her second child at the age of 15 and who contracted HIV in her third pregnancy.
And Bolsonaro again used the Workers Party as a justification for his actions. According to the captain, the program was created because this freedom that they took along the PT, anything goes, reaches this point, total depravity .
The program Bolsonaro commented on is idealized by the Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves, together with the Ministry of Health.

(112,236 posts)and I suspect that he may take it to the extreme of reversing LGBT rights. However, since Brazil has a nationalized healthcare program, the healthcare of HIV positive patients is an expense distributed among their entire society so Bolsonaro's statement does have an element of truth even though it is morally repugnant.
Questions about abortion, euthanasia, birth control, experimental prescriptions and procedures, and how much to spend on each patient (particularly on the elderly) will become highly politicized in a national healthcare program. While in the U.S. we complain about the health insurance companies, the fact that changes move glacially based upon the enactment of legislation seems more palatable than living under a system where various elements of healthcare coverage are available/unavailable or rationed based upon election results and executive orders. As difficult as it can be to fight an insurance company, it is far more difficult to fight a government that arbitrarily decides to end a program whether it is for budgetary, moral, or ethical reasons.

You're using a 35-year old playbook. Why don't you think for yourself and start governing?
While you're at it, stop f***ing up the rainforest. Other people have to breathe too.
Before you have a sad, go and execute one of the usual suspects. You'll feel better and we can start fresh tomorrow.
