Inconvenient truths for Dems

There are some good points in the article below, especially as pertains to immigration. The Dems should heed this and tailor their message to account for their inconsistencies. We have to deprive the Repubs - as much as possible - of legitimate opportunities to paint us with the hypocrisy label - especially since Repubs are more hypocritical than Dems by a factor of 9 to 1.

In fairness to ourselves on the immigration issues, however, liberals were pretty critical of Obama on his deportation policies. (It was us libs who came up with "deporter in chief".)

And, yes, Obama's border protection department did put minors in cages. But, these caged detentions were mostly minors who were being trafficked as well as separating minors from adults who otherwise had no relationship with the kids (where the kids were picked up along the way as props) and kids who were separated from parents guilty of infamous crimes.

I haven't heard reporting on blanket separation policies under Obama simply for the purposes of discouraging border crossings. I have seen reporting that the numbers of separated and caged minors under Trump in just these 2.5 years are greater than all of Obama's 8 years. But, I'd like to confirm that one.

Truth barely, if at all, matters to the entire Rublecon Party.
Fact check the fascists then get back to us.

May not have been blanket policy, as you point out, but is that particularly important?

Initially, Homeland Security officials said they were detaining the families to send a message to others in Central America to deter them from coming to the United States illegally. In February, a federal court in Washington, D.C., ruled that strategy unconstitutional. Officials stopped invoking deterrence as a factor in deciding whether to release mothers and children as they seek asylum in the United States.

4. We do have every right to have control over who enters and stays in our country.

We need rational, enforceable immigration policies. Right now we are treating people who have every right to file for asylum and get their day in court being treated like animals. Most of us are so much better than this. 45 isn't fighting illegal border crossings, he's trying to keep all brown people from entering the country, legally or not.
