You have to wonder if this is the last time the House will sit in judgment of Trump

The one thing we don’t need to debate in America is whether Donald Trump is a racist. He makes racist statements. He makes racist policy. He tweets racist tweets. He dog-whistles racist dog whistles. If dog whistling doesn’t quite get the job done, he tweets that four lefty congresswomen of color should go back to whatever — paraphrasing here — shithole country they came from, knowing or not knowing, it’s hard to know which, that three of the targeted women were born in America and the other arrived as a child refugee.

None of this is new. Trump began his presidency by trying to ban all visitors and refugees from seven majority-Muslim countries. His journey to the presidency began by becoming the nation’s most prominent birther. Back in the day, he called for the Central Park Five to be executed. Upon their exoneration, he still believes they’re guilty.

Why does he believe they’re guilty? Ask yourself what a racist is. Try to come up with a way to explain why Trump doesn’t qualify. Remember Paul Ryan’s “textbook definition of racism” quote? Trump has written a new textbook. The Atlantic published an “oral history” of Trumpist racism, which could serve as a foreword to that book.

That’s not the worst of it. The worst of it is the GOP enablers who stand silent — most Republican lawmakers — or even defend him. They’re silenced out of fear of those who make up the Trump base, few of whom, let’s say, fit the long-past ideal of the Party of Lincoln. Or they’re silenced out of fear of Trump himself, who, as we know, holds a grudge.

that they do NOT "represent" ordinary citizens. They are for the rich, not working class citizens who elect them. They find a comfortable, easy notch in the gop and cling on for dear life. All their values are discarded and they do not care who knows it. Putin's rubles mean more to them than any $$$$ from citizens of the US. They will prop up the worst person in this country's history as president, all to keep their positions. I hope they all are voted out of office, so this country can begin the long crawl back to NORMALCY.

Yes, the GOP has consistently supported policies that benefit the 1% and large corporations. The Trump tax cuts demonstrate this as much-- if not more-- than nearly any other issue. The rich got richer and the middle class got to pay more in taxes.

But there are plenty of people in the U.S. that support Trump and the GOP who are not rich. They are working class Americans who are led along by other elements of Trump's policies. Consider that Trump received over 60 million votes; there aren't that many rich people in the country. Consider that in spite of nearly 11,000 daily lies, Trump still has the support of more than a third of the electorate. Consider the deep vein of xenophobia that Trump has tapped; that support really doesn't come from the super-rich.

And yes, "I hope they all are voted out of office, so this country can begin the long crawl back to NORMALCY."

What can Trump do to them? Oh, he can call them silly names, rant and rave, but at this point who pays any attention to Trump rants? He has become tired and boresome. Reality stars fade, and when they do the fall is fast. Trump is past his sell date.

I picture a little education session showing some deep fakes. Or warnings of cyber attacks on bank accounts.

When a trove of Panama papers was released, maybe some of it wasn’t even true. A flood of true and not true. What if that was a trove of incriminating videos, most true and some not true?

Or warnings of vigilante groups that will target any gop congressman that turns against Trump?

I cannot understand the lockstep subservience. I find it hard to believe so many GOP congress people are quiet, and in fact supportive, when there are clear indications that Trump is dragging the country through the pit of hell like an evil twisted tyrant. Are they weak? Compromised? Racist? Cowardly? Owned? Yes.

But I suspect they are afraid of what he can do to them. More than get voted out of office.

It has happened in other countries where corrupt people see lots of money and power in front of them, they don't see that eventually they will also be victims of the regime.

But your theory is a very good one, I also believe they have been compromised, they have been shown something that scares them. In my entry below I point out Graham who after one game of Golf made a 180 turn, I think he was warned, and I bet he made a lot of bogies after that, I would love to see his scorecard, not that I think he is a good golfer, but nonetheless I think the score must have been worst after the "announcement".

Was the turning point for Graham. Something drastic happened then.

How many temper tirades has he had since then? Kavanaugh was the first one.

The first time I noticed Graham was at McCain’s funeral. The camera panned on him. His eyes were darting all over the place. He could not sit still. I wondered why he was so nervous. Shortly afterward they announced he had invited Jared and Ivanka against the specific orders of the McCain family. I was shocked.

He is such a weasel.

They are showing pictures of Trump glad handling and whispering in Epstein’s ear on Morning Joe!

Lets take as example #1 Lindsey Graham:

He was one of the loudest voices in criticizing the creature, he actually did a very good job at qualifying him, he called him inept, a crook, a crock, a racist, bad for the country, you name it, he called him out.

Graham plays one (1) round of Golf with the creature, he does a 180 degree turn. Now he is the creature's lap dog.

You are not going to tell me that the creature's brilliance changed Graham's mind, there is something behind the scenes that scared the hell out of Graham and he is now working to save his skin, his reputation.

The creature is a mafioso, Putin is a mafioso, they know how to compromise people, and they have done that with many republicans, that is why they are so afraid. Lets face it, republicans are not well known for being honest, so I wonder how many skeletons all these repubs have in how many closets, and now they are running scared.

in Nov 2018 landslide. No trump admin official has been held responsible or accountable by congress and is quickly indicating a growing concern that we lack the guts to undertake a real battle. All this does reinforces the GOP's accusations of weakness as it is being proven every day. Now with a 2 MONTH recess a few weeks away, its looking more grim that House will go at ANY trump official. No public review of the Mueller report with Mueller under oath in front of the american people. Almost every trump official has totally ignored all subpoenas and so far none have paid any price outside of threats of contempt charges and strongly worded letters. No impeachment inquiries on any trump official yet while many could be underway from Barr to DeVos....we let other trump officials corruption go by unscathed.

Goes back to what is point of our hard work if those we place in power refuse to use it?

A strongly worded letter. I can't comment further as there the censorship police active in this place but so far our leaders are not doing what we need done by OUR hard work to give them a mandate AND a real possibility that 2020 could be a reversal of 2018 because of the lack of action and guts.

A 2 month recess is happening and no trump official has faced any level of accountability yet. No reason why Bill Barr not facing impeachment, Pelosi herself has stated several times he had lied to congress. If lying to Congess in an official capacity doesn't invoke impeachment, what does? It's all slipping away. I see it every day among my friends and hear their comments on the lack of a backbone to do what us right. Doesn't matter what McConnel and the Senate does with articles of impeachment. The logic crumbles immediately when you consider any democratic bill will die in the Senate and yet they have fear about impeachment not going to voted guilty, as a waste of time? So what about all the waste if time on votes on bills that will never see a vote in the Senate. Leadership is talking out of both sides if their collective mouth on this. We née trump admin officials impeached, they are violating the law, they are lying to congress and right now, have ZERO fear in doing so. Let's tarnish their legacy forever, pass articles of impeachment and get the democrats enthused why gave them the power.

To hear Trump telling Americans to go back to where they came from.
There cannot be anyone who does not know the story about Trump's family history, how the German government would not take his grandfather back into the country on account of cowardice.
Come to think of it, Trump also would have been labeled a coward during Viet Nam because of his so called bone spurs and college deferments.
Does not say much about his college education, he did not learn how to spell simple words.
