Something for Roberts Raiders to think about before blowing up that bridge..
I know that legal or constitutional considerations are the least of things on the minds of Roberts (Supreme Court) Raiders (of Democracy, ... Crusaders, as they are, for Corporate Feudalism) as they ponder the fate of the Affordable Health Care Act. Ideology is the only thing that matters to them. But since ideology is their only consideration, part of that consideration has to be the political effects their decision could have on the upcoming Presidential and Congressional elections. The reaction of voters is something they should weigh as they proceed with their crafty machinations toward the death of the ACA.
Then I suggest the Crusaders for Corporate Feudalism ponder the following facts:
It is estimated that about 2,500,000 individuals aged 19 - 26 are now covered by their parents medical insurance who weren't covered before - thanks to the ACA.
Also, it is estimated that about 32 million people, who cannot afford Healath Insurance now, will be able to get it starting in 2014, thanks to the ACA .
So, that means for the 2.5 million added to parents medical insurance, that would be about 5 million adult parents who are all potentially voters, who are very pleased their older children are now covered by medical insurance thanks to the ACA.
In 2014 about 32 milliion additional people, who cannot afford medical insurance now, will be able to get it thanks to the ACA and that would be about 20,000,000 people (based on the percentage of the population who are over 25 yrs of age) who are also potential voters.
So that means there are about 25 million people who would very likely react very unfavorably to hearing that Conservative Ideologues on the Supreme Court kept them from getting medical coverage for themselves andor for their older children.
Considering that in a heavy turnout presidential election, 50-52 million votes usually wins the race, you might want to ponder the impact of your decision to kill the ACA.
Also, Roberts Raiders should consider whether it's so smart to remove the issue of Health Care from the election in November. This one the GOP would dearly love to whip up their base of suckers about.

(47,953 posts)If they wait until these folks see some benefits, in 2014, then it becomes much harder. Right now people don't see as much benefit, so it is easier to lie about it and get them to think Obamacare is all bad.
