It Was Mitch McConnell Who Stopped Obama From Blocking Trump's Treason.
'As Trump tried to blame Obama for his potential crimes against his own country, it is important to remember that it was Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who stopped any bipartisan action before the election against the Russian attack.
Here is the real history that Trump is trying to hide.
It was Barack Obama who wanted to issue a joint statement condemning Russian election meddling with Republicans, but Mitch McConnell refused to cooperate. It was the Obama administration that secured documents relating to the Russia investigation so that they couldnt be destroyed by Trump and the Republicans. It was Obama who warned for years that Americas election system and infrastructure needed to be upgraded and repaired. (A warning that was ignored by Republican state and local election officials.)
McConnell went even further. When Congress wanted to act, the Senate Majority Leader expressed doubt about the intelligence that Russia was attacking the United States and stopped Congress from taking action against Russia.
The Republican Party prevented President Obama and the Democrats from doing anything to stop the Russian attack. In hindsight, we now know that this is because Republicans were also benefiting from the Russian activities.
Trump knows why Obama didnt do anything to stop his treason. Mitch McConnell is the reason why Russia was able to attack our country. McConnell was also a big part of why Trump was able to win the election.
If America wants to blame someone when they go to the polls in November for Trumps presence in the White House, cast your vote for the Democratic Senate candidate to blame Mitch McConnell.'

(6,139 posts)couldnt he issue a joint statement with a few patriot repubs like mccain? Who by the way is more respected anyway so would have more weight regardless. My reading of this is that Obama greatly undereestimated the danger and bet the countrys future on Hilary winning the election.

(131,107 posts)Our administration's interest in making sure the response was bipartisan wasn't for the sake of being bipartisan. It was necessary because we needed the buy-in from state and local election administrators (many of whom were Republican partisans and/or skeptical of federal government), the official argued in an email. Unfortunately, as is well documented, Senator McConnell was unwilling to help only making matters worse.

(2,541 posts)I am still torn on this however. 60%-40%. 60% of me wishes President Obama had said Damn the torpedos and released the info. The other 40% of me thinks President Obama did the right thing.
Honestly though had President Obama said to hell with republicans and released the information without bi-partisan support from congress and republicans gone into crazy hair on fire mode accusing President Obama of election tampering whats the worst that could have happened...
...wait, it did anyway.

Re: doing it without support from repugs...
I think PBO (like most people) thought HRC would win, and he didn't want it to look like he was tipping the scales in her favor (turtle mcdumbass threatened to call him out if he did it).

(21,798 posts)I think this whole Russian collusion thing is going to go deep into the Republican Party.
Just think. The top Republican Senators (and only Republican Senators, no Democrats) just spent the Fourth of July in Moscow meeting with known Russian operatives. And we (the people of the USA) have no idea what they talked about. Now Trump is going for a one on one with Putin, and will not even allow an American translator?
Three months before the election? Goddamn, do we need a written confession?
