Bernie Sanders calls for repeal of GOP tax law
by Al Weaver - April 09, 2018 04:23 PM
Excerpt:
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., called Monday for the Republican tax law to be repealed after the Congressional Budget Office projected that the deficit will hit $1 trillion in 2020.
The CBO projected that the budget deficit will rise to $804 billion for 2018 before hitting the $1 trillion mark in 2020 two years earlier than anticipated. The national debt is also expected to hit $33 trillion in ten years after it hit the $21 trillion mark last month. Democrats are laying blame at the acceleration of the deficit and debt with the tax law that was passed in December.
"Over and over again, President Trump and his administration falsely claimed that their $1.5 trillion tax cut bill would pay for itself," Sanders said in a statement. "Todays Congressional Budget Office report puts that myth to rest."
"According to CBO, President Trumps massive tax break for the wealthy and large corporations is the primary reason that the federal deficit and national debt will explode over the next decade," Sanders said. "Republicans are already using the huge increase in the debt that they caused as an excuse to make major cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. That is unacceptable."

(1,642 posts)Or perhaps, you hate Bernie more than the new tax cuts.
Any senator who wants can follow B's lead here.

(794 posts)Bernie's self-serving pie-in-the-sky bullshit doesn't get things done.
Nice try turd polishing, though.

(1,642 posts)The only thing you accomplish is to further express Bernie hate, which further divides the party.
You aren't getting it done. You go backwards.

(794 posts)Building alliances, coalitions, caucuses & most of all, parties.
Something Bernie has never done, has never been able to do, and has never had the will or desire to do. Too busy promoting Bernie.
If he really cared about getting a progressive agenda enacted, he would go away.
earthshine
(1,642 posts)Again, you express nothing but your vacuous disdain for Bernie.
Shame on you for speaking against those who outwardly speak against Republican policy.
TheSmarterDog
(794 posts)He'd be a good ally to have - if only he could leave his ego aside.

(1,642 posts)I support Bernie based on his policies -- not his identity.
I have no saviors of any kind.
I support those who are outspoken against Republicans.
I will not be conversing with you further. You provide no substance; just your hate, now somewhat moderated because you were made to look foolish.
TheSmarterDog
(794 posts)Appropriate, 'cause he's pretty vacuous himself.

(794 posts)His entire Presidential campaign consisted of nothing but re-hashed RW talking points attacking Democrats.
Again - nice try at polishing that turd.

(1,642 posts)The OP is about Bernie speaking against Republican policy. For you, this is obviously bad. It angers you because your favorite Democrats aren't speaking out, and you identify with them personally, more so than you are interested in common-sense issues.
That's called identity politics.
> His entire Presidential campaign consisted of nothing but re-hashed RW talking points attacking Democrats.
You mean, like this OP?
Is it a RW point to speak against money in politics, which is the number one thing he fights against? Most certainly not!
Let's see some links from you showing Bernie supporting so-called RW talking points.
Just imagine if Bernie did achieve the Democratic nomination. You'd have to vote for him. I think that would be funny.
TheSmarterDog
(794 posts)And the idea that you promote that he really, really, really could have won the Democratic nomination is a RW meme promoted by Russian trolls. Please don't fall for that propaganda.

(32,640 posts)Because Bernie couldn't get the votes needed to get the nomination?
Was that "funny?"
