WOULD A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN DELAY A TRUMP IMPEACHMENT VOTE?

BY JESSICA KWONG ON 12/2/17 AT 3:09 PM

The looming possibility of a government shutdown could interfere with a promised vote to impeach President Donald Trump next week.

That’s because during a shutdown—which could happen if Congress fails to pass a spending bill by midnight December 8—legislators would only be focused on negotiations to try to reach funding agreements. An impeachment vote would be off keel.

Perhaps that is a reason Trump didn't disclose when he apparently said a shutdown might be good for him. The president told confidants he sees his hard-line immigration stance as a means of regaining supporters, The Washington Post reported on Thursday. White House Legislative Affairs Director Marc Short told the newspaper that Trump is “not advocating for a shutdown in any way.”

An impeachment vote could take place before the deadline for the shutdown. Texas Democrat Al Green did not give a specific day, but promised that the first vote on whether to impeach Trump would take place in the House of Representatives in the coming week. That leaves open possibilities for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

but a shutdown would do the opposite of what the GOP thinks it will (make the Dems look bad). They made that same mistake with Clinton and it backfired on them and everyone blamed the GOP instead of Clinton.

The December 7 deadline has been extended by two additional weeks.

We really shouldn’t seek a Trump impeachment now - let Muller continue his investigation.

If it is proposed to the Congress at this time that they impeach Trump, they will and then will try to campaign on the impeachment - rather than having to answer to the voters for supporting Trump and this terrible tax bill - that we will all regret.

And impeachment now - after this tax bill has been passed and signed, well to be honest for the GOP - there is nothing left to steal. They have looted the financial treasury of the US of A.

Trump, after the signing is sideshow. If Trump was smart, he would Veto the bill - and then go on a popular rant about how the GOP as it is defined is trying to destroy America for the working men and women, and articulate to the public all the terrible things this tax bill will do. Then he will put the faces of the Mitch and Paul on it as the parents of this abortion that lived. Then, when he is impeached (as they will do once they get his signature) - he can lie that he was impeached for trying to save the working men and women. That is what I would do, in his shoes...
