How many of those "churches" spend any real money on charity efforts anyway? The_Casual_Observer Aug 2017 #1
Some of them do, quite generously. But that's beside the point. The Velveteen Ocelot Aug 2017 #3

The point is that every single church or other religious organization would have to come up with more than $700K per year to make up for Ryan's budget cuts to social programs (above and beyond what they might need just to maintain themselves). And no matter how hard they try or how generous they might like to be, that's simply impossible.

could wipe out suffering, famine, in a single swipe....yet - give to this charity or that charity - tithe to the church...you, who work two, three jobs just to put food on the table, and a roof over your families head...

I find this disgusting...billionaires, you first - pony up - wipe out homelessness, hunger, and poverty - I will stand beside you with what I can give...but don't ask me for anything..considering you have started to put your foot on my neck....

are already constantly struggling to cover what they have. Add literally millions more out there who will be in desperate need for all sorts of help if these buttwipes make the cuts they're talking about and there's no way they'll be able to keep up. People.will.DIE.

We have trouble paying for the heat in the winter. Are we supposed to hold bake sales?

To serve meals to many people every day? That is what the Granny Starver Ryan is suggesting. I would think the logistics of that would quickly overwhelm any church budget.

All so that rich people can get a tax cut they don't need.

Makes lots of sense, Pauley. Heckuva job.

Sounds like taxation w/o representation (indirectly, of churches and their congregations)...in addition to separation of church and state issues (abandoning government functions)...and the whole purpose of government to begin w/, to help our fellow citizens in times of events too massive for one state or local government to handle by itself.

Does Ryan know of the magnitude of what's he's saying???

If Ryan is proposing abandonment of government functions, then why is he there?

Go home, let someone else do your job, Ryan...

"Faith based organizations will step forward to fill the void". Hardly anything new. Fake Christians think a lot alike.

/sarcasm

We already know this does not work, or the social welfare laws would not have been necessary. Churches can't do enough. And people are not required to belong to churches.
