Just announced, "National Call In Day" stop ACA repeal and demand Independent Investigation.
MoveOn.org just announced on their nationwide call there is an EMERGENCY! Spread the word to CALL, CALL, CALL NOW! This week it looks like the Senate has an 80% chance at deja vu... the Senate ACA repeal bill will pass too! They changed the rules and can get it through without 60 votes, filibuster, no committees and hearings, no town halls, etc. Same as the House bill! The Senate phones have been DEAD! That's what will happen to millions of Americans too (I am one of them). I have called all 100 Senators 3 times each and will call again and you must too (202)224-3121. Call reps in red states by using Zillow for fake addresses/residences since they never check.
Also, June 13th is the day to call House and Senate and demand an Independent Investigation:
1. Russian Interference in our Election
2. Trump's Obstruction of Justice
We need this besides Mueller and the Senate and House committees. This way there will be a "full spectrum" investigation and possible criminal charges as well as being NON partisan and can't get derailed by GOP and Trump.

(50,955 posts)going to suffer and die over health care. There is no getting away from it. And right now, the question is, "Which course will cause the least amount of suffering and death?"
My horrified conclusion is that the least suffering will result if the Republicans pass their death panel health plan. Here is my reasoning:
If Obamacare remains the law of the land, the Republicans will sabotage it. Coverage will slowly wither, premiums will rise to unworkable levels, and the whole thing will collapse. Republicans will then say, "See, it was a disaster and it could never have worked." We have seen in this election that the American public is stupid enough to believe it. If this happens, the whole idea of a national health care plan will be thrown out the window for another generation, as it was during the Clinton administration. So that will mean a generation of unnecessary suffering and death.
If, on the other hand, the Republican pass their healthcare plan and tens of millions are tossed off healthcare at the stroke of a pen, the damage to people's well being will be immediate and severe and undeniable. It will result in a huge backlash in the upcoming elections and will have the effect of forcing people to demand a workable healthcare plan, possibly even single payer. The suffering will be limited to two or four years.
I know it's awful to be thinking this way, but does seem to me to be the two possibilities, and the least suffering comes if the Republicans pass their bill and kick themselves in the ass.

(24,578 posts)Your conclusion is not unreasonable given our present circumstances. People are going to suffer and die until Democrats are back in charge, and we can only hope they learn a lesson from this round of republican cruelty. But I'm not going to hold my breath...they manage to blame Democrats no matter what.

the gop can't do shit without talk radio and if they think those universities are going to start looking for apolitical alts to broadcast sports they will freak out because those kinds of discussions will mean their advertisers will start heading for the hills
