They didn't believe him

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trump-voters-didnt-take-him-literally-on-obamacare-oops/2016/12/20/46ef3cae-c6f3-11e6-bf4b-2c064d32a4bf_story.html?postshare=3571482334168831&tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.28eb7391f2ec

“I don’t know what we’ll do if it does go away,” Mills said. “I guess I thought that, you know, [Trump] would not do this. That they would not do this, would not take the insurance away. Knowing that it’s affecting so many people’s lives. I mean, what are you to do then if you cannot .?.?. purchase, cannot pay for the insurance?”

Mills, who supported Trump for other reasons, figured Obamacare repeal was just talk. “I guess we really didn’t think about that, that he was going to cancel that or change that or take it away,” she said. “I guess I always just thought that it would be there. I was thinking that once it was made into a law that it could not be changed.”

I sincerely have no sympathy at this point and not for lack of trying.

A lot of people will call me a cold-hearted bastard and I'm sure I'll get an earful from my extended family as well as my more kind hearted lefty friends. But I encourage everyone to look at this from my perspective before judging and leaving angry comments.

People in the disability rights community, myself included bent over backwards to try to tell these people that anyone can get a preexisting condition. White, black, gay, straight, urban, rural, liberal or conservative, it doesn't matter.

We were called snowflakes, SJWs, cucks, and ethnic slurs of every kind. Some of them were even doxxed and sent death and rape threats. I was not one of them.

My impression of these people was, charitably, that they sincerely believed that the bad parts of what Trump and the GOP is proposing wouldn't affect THEM. It'd only affect the people they didn't like. Minorities, anyone under 60, or pretty much anyone who lives in a city with a population greater than 5,000

But now they're realizing that all that stuff being proposed, like bringing back preexisting conditions ,cuts across political lines.

And now they're afraid and they're going to show up to townhalls begging their Congresscritter not to take away their healthcare or bring back preexisting conditions. Despite them running on doing exactly that.

Granted this is nothing new. More than a few parents with disabled kids thought educating the disabled was a waste of money that took away from the "smart" kids. Then THEY had a kid with autism or something and started singing a different tune.

Honestly, when they start setting up GoFundMe's and the like, they won't get a dime from me. Don't care who. If they voted Trump, my wallet is closed.

federal money. Most of the southern and western states would be broke without Federal spending. And the ACA helps them more also.

The republican congress won't do anything to fix health care. When this happens, trump won't be able to say he was surprised. We all know the true nature of trump and this congress.

along with malpractice suits, crippled the insurance industry so much that they can no longer give reasonable rates or cover pre-existing conditions. It is BS, but 40% of the population will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

It's ridiculous how stupid some people are. And stubborn as well. It's going to be interesting to watch the southern states with Republican governors that use the ACA and what happens to the Trump humpers that benefitted from it.

This quote comes to mind.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Their ignorance and/or blatant sex/racism has brought this on all of us. When they lose their insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, their jobs and social security then "If they are to die then let them be quick about it and decrease the surplus population."

At least Trump will be able to make more money and maybe Russia won't be too rough on us, but at least you can say you voted for your "principles"
