NY Times: Male Voters Finally Get Trump
Male Voters Finally Get Trump
New York Times, Anna North, 10/11/16
The release of a 2005 recording showing Donald Trump gloating about sexual assault has cost him male voters. But by one measure, the tape has had a bigger impact on men. In an
NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll conducted before the release of the tape, 45 percent of likely male voters said Mr. Trump does not respect women. Post-tape, that share rose to 55 percent.
The effect on women was less pronounced 64 percent of likely female voters polled pre-tape said Mr. Trump did not respect women, compared with 69 percent surveyed afterward.
For female voters, the tape may not have been much of a surprise. Women have a lot of practice spotting sexism, and Mr. Trumps has never been subtle. Before the 2005 conversation came to light, he had already called Rosie ODonnell a pig, said that Megyn Kelly had blood coming out of her wherever and told his Twitter followers to look at Alicia Machados (nonexistent) sex tape.
