Republicans escalate war on women - Shannyn Moore in the Anchorage Daily News
Shannyn is funny and absolutely correct.

When I've jumped the gun, I apologize for the bullet. So let me say I'm sorry.
Last May I was very critical of Rep. Carl Gatto of Palmer. Rep. Gatto proposed House Bill 88. It said our state courts couldn't apply a foreign law, Sharia law specifically, if it would violate an individual's constitutional rights.

Personally I don't know whom to root for: the burqas seem to be losing to the cassocks. The Catholic Church, based in Italy, as you know, is a foreign religion imported to America by immigrants, and it's pushing hard to impose itself on the country.

It turns out that the real reason we need "small government" is so it will fit inside a uterus.

Republican candidates are racing to out-"pro-life" one another while bleating for war on Iran.

Taxpayers are forced to pay for a lot of things they don't agree with. I, for one, never supported a war in Iraq, but I'm sure a portion of my taxes funded it. I might add that the Republicans didn't seem to have too much concern for the sanctity of Iraqi children's lives.

Like the only women using contraception are sluts. Or maybe that's how they see it, after all. Damn that temptress Eve!

I had assumed that all that fine print just told you the same crap that other medical stuff was. But you know, I looked more closely at a condom package recently, and they're right. In tiny, two-point type, are some of the best lessons I've had the privilege of reading. Lust, greed, envy, gluttony, sloth, anger, pride - I saw that package and I wanted cartons and cartons of 'em, in all colors, shapes, sizes, and flavors, and I wanted a dick big enough to use the biggest ones, and I wanted enough partners - any kind of partners - to use 'em all up on, and I wanted two years off of work to do it in, I got really pissed when I realized I can't have it all, and I was pretty impressed that I could read all this into a simple ad on a condom wrapper.
They sure seem dangerous to me.
If I'd have been on Adderall, Efexor, and Viagra at the time, who knows what might have happened?

(50 posts)I'VE HAD ENOUGH! In this Holy War on Religion, of Religion, and by Religion. I SURRENDER! Im a lover, not a fighter. Instead... Im gonna start my OWN religion, and get in on the good stuff: tax exemptions, and lots of taxpayer money to do what I want, in the name of religious liberty. Most definitely! Hey NEWT -wanna join? Were gonna have open marriages and multiple wives and all SORTS of neat stuff that youre just gonna love! But dont you worry your little head Newt: well have no -I repeat- NO nasty stoning of adulterers. None of that stuff. I Promise! As for SANTORUM, he just LOVES to tell other people how they should live. Hell make us a REAL fine preacher-man. In fact, well make him Saint Santorum. AND fix his Google search results! As for Mr. Obama, obviously, well need to (severely) demonize him, even further. And his dog Toto too. Last but not least: MITT and RON. Hmmm. Hey, I know. Just for you two guys: well insist on NO TAXES AT ALL for church members
AND human sacrifice of illegal aliens. Out with their hearts! Televised! Live! Whoooppee! WHAT A COUNTRY!
By the way, please dont mention the REASON that Mitt Romneys dad was born in Mexico (i.e. The fact that Mitts Mormon grand-dad left the United States in the 1880s. He went to Mexico BECAUSE laws against polygamy were passed in the U.S. ; Being a Mormon back then, Mitts grand-dad wanted to keep his multiple wives. Hey, who wouldnt?) Bottom line: if we follow the logic of the people crying crocodile tears about a non-existent war on religion, then the U.S. should have allowed polygamy (and who knows what else) just because a particular religion claimed it as their cherished belief. GIVE ME A BREAK!
Absolutely NO ONE is coming into our Churches or places of worship and trying to tell parishioners what to believe.....or forcing them to use contraception. BUT If the Bishops (and other denominations) want to continue running businesses that employ millions of people of varying faiths -or no "faith" at all- THEN they must play by the same rules and rights that other workers have and enjoy...especially if their businesses use our tax dollars (and skip paying taxes) in the process. This is not a war on religion. Its a war on women and men who simply want to plan their families and control their future. Now thats REAL religious liberty!
p. s. I come from a religious background. I know that their are MANY good people out there, in various faiths (and outside of those faiths); many good people searching for answers, for community, for a way....in this all-too-harsh world. There's only one thing I can say to you: think for yourself, be yourself, trust yourself. Don't just accept something because it comes from a "voice of authority". Thats why you have a conscience: to choose, not just to follow....
