Putin comes in from the cold: Desperate world leaders cosy up to Russian President to get him to join the fight against ISISDesperate world leaders today lined up to try to woo Russian President Vladimir Putin to back global efforts to defeat ISIS.
For more than a year relations with Moscow have been in the deep freeze over Russian incursions in Ukraine.
But now Mr Putin is seen as holding the key to resolving the bloody civil war in Syria which has given rise to ISIS fanatics.
It has led to the spectacle of US President Barack Obama, British PM David Cameron and Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud posing for photos with the Russian President.

(39,405 posts)3. we'll know US policy has changed when they start praising Putin
and pretending they never had a problem with him.
BTW: I've been looking for the new Movie about Dalton Trumbo. So far I can't find info in my State about when it will show. It's been released in "Selected Theaters" and yet I can't find a website for it even though the Producer has been out on MSM (the little I watch) promoting it.
I was glad to hear that a movie was out about that terrible time in America. Although...I'm beginning to think, some ways, we have surpassed the McCarthy Era these days. It's more subtle but it is somewhat worse because its more diversified across the elaborate Media we have access to these days. We don't always notice it because of the "Net"...but for those with low bandwidth, Dialup and DSL plus "Throttled Paid Bandwidth" ......IT LIVES. We think we have Free Speech and ability to view ""News We Want to Watch" (International) BUT...... And, if one has to choose between Wolf Blitzer and MSNBC's New Lineup.....for NEWS...for average Americans, or FAUX News, one can see how the dumb down works.
I'm going to keep looking for the movie. It might inform those who had no idea, if average Americans even get an opportunity to see it.

(Oct 23) Russian President Vladimir Putin is urging the United States to cooperate with him in Syria, saying it could be an opportunity to mend relations between the two countries...

Now it's the US (& France) urging Russia?
