"Putin is Defeating More Than ISIS in Syria"
http://journal-neo.org/2015/10/15/putin-is-defeating-more-than-isis-in-syria/Author F. William Engdahl provides salient quotes from Pres. Putin's speech to the UN General Assembly in September.
Then in a remark addressed to Washington and their NGO Color Revolutions known as the Arab Spring, Putin pointedly asks, Im urged to ask those who created this situation: do you at least realize now what youve done?"
The last phrase, "Do you at least realize now what youve done?" has been oft-repeated to date. Many await an answer from the "Empire of Chaos". Kudos to Pepe Escobar for that descriptive term.

About
Our journal is called the New Eastern Outlook, so we are primarily interested in processes taking place at the broad expanse that stretches from Japan and the remote coasts of Africa. However, we do not limit ourselves geographically. We also look at political events happening in other areas of the world as they relate to the Orient. We cover political and religious issues, economic and ideological trends, regional security topics and social problems.
We are committed to develop NEO into a notable international networking platform offering unbiased expert opinions and open dialogue among all thinking people worldwide regardless of their nationality, race or religion. NEO editorial staff appreciates viewpoints of any reader or contributor ready to share and defend his convictions and approaches, whether commonplace or unconventional.
Our priority is to promote understanding rather than ideology, strategic outlook rather than simple reporting on events and to reveal causes rather than its consequences. We are focused on creating a new culture of partnership where opinions influence decisions. We have launched NEO community spaces in Facebook and Twitter for you. Plese do join in, invite your friends, write, comment, argue, send us your contributions, and share!

(8,219 posts)THINK! Analyze and corroborate from various sources. Determine, over time, what makes sense and what's congruent with what you know about how the world operates. Have confidence in your own ability to separate the wheat from the chaff and to adjust your thinking as new information becomes available. Ask questions, including the most important one, "who benefits?".
Surely, no DUer believes one should only read or discuss information unless it's first approved by DU. That would be a most curious stance to take for people who consider themselves independent thinkers.

(22,802 posts)Assad is Russia's ONLY ally in the U.S. His hopes to weaken anti-Assad rebels while the U.S and allies go after ISIS. His only goal is keep Assad in power long enough to force a negotiated settlement that keeps Assad in power. But ras-Putin will have to commit a lot more ground troops and aircraft to accomplish that goal. Meanwhile, he's outdoing even the U.S. at bombing hospitals and civilians. While lying about going after ISIS. What a putz.
