That he redid the interstate through Arkansas. It's all he ever talked about when he was governor.

In other words he multiplied the states spending by a factor of 9 with federal matching funds.

Even though he's a pastor (or some kind of religious leader) as governor, the only thing he talked about was how he took advantage of those matching funds to rebuild the interstate through Arkansas.

All of his religious batshitcraziness really only emerged when he started running for president. He really wasn't that bad as governor IMHO.

this past week and basically said Huckabee was an okay guy and he just started with this crazy talk when he decided to run for president. Personally I don't think he's really running for president. He an opportunist and probably wants to keep his name in the press so he can make money off of it later down the road - Books, lecture tours, radio/TV host?

I don't think he can write anymore books on dieting

His last books was "God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy"! Another 200 page book of nothing, but this one evidently calories in it.

... he PLAYED an okay guy on television.

He's been an ordained pastor since before he was governor of Arkansas. That religious bile was there all along, he just kept at a simmer until it proved useful to let it boil over. But decades of malice and bad judgment - even saying "hello" to Ted Nugent should earn him an express ticket to Hell - far outweigh the thin veil of a "Mr. Nice Guy" persona he wears for certain audiences.

He IS a very good actor and there was a time when I thought he was super nice guy even though I disagreed with his politics. Clearly he will do or say anything to further his career (whatever that is). Just another grifter taking advantage of the crazy climate we're living in. I have my doubts about his sincerity when it comes to religion as well.

... and according to the diagnostic criteria in the DSM-IV, The Huckster certainly qualifies. Like all mental aberrations, there is a spectrum, just as there is for autism. Huckabee hovers in the low-to-mid-range, I suspect, while someone like Cheney is exploring uncharted territories of evil. I just wouldn't want to give Huckabee a chance to expand his horizons.

I don't think there are any compromises he is willing to make to further his ambitions. He's more dangerous than many because he looks and sounds like such a "nice guy", whereas Cheney looks and sounds like the devil's spawn.

Malice, deceit, and belligerent intimidation define the Republican Party. I seriously question whether ANY Republican has been elected fair and square. If it ain't hanging chads, doctored voting machines, or just bullying people of color at the polls, it's gerrymandering districts into perverted pretzels. They are congenitally incapable of discerning the truth, let alone telling it. Evil always finds a way.
