Why Romney's 'dog on car roof' story makes him unfit to be president (from Fox news)

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/01/13/romneys-dog-on-car-roof-story-makes-him-unfit-to-be-president/

It might be unseemly to bring this up just as Mitt Romney celebrates his win in New Hampshire on Tuesday night and seems to be a strong front-runner for the GOP nomination. But the story of his putting his dog in a carrier on his car roof for a 12-hour family trip is spreading again on the Internet and disturbs me the more I learn about it.

And I am betting the more it gets out, the more votes Romney loses — red, blue and purple.

When, in a campaign debate, Romney opposed allowing a non-documented worker who has lived here for 25 years to stay and earn his way to citizenship, he struck me as heartless.

a look at just how sick mittens is..
*********

... the story was relayed by members of Romney's own family. If the dog had diarrhea beforehand, they probably would have conveyed that fact. It would be weird if they didn't.

Cheap, safe and doggie can get inside. Romney would , what, ship our troops over in rowboats on a tether?

His excuse of, he wouldnt fit doesnt fly. And when the dog crapped, and he sprayed him and the car/crate off, then took off immediately, the dog was freezing and stressed.

I also heard, that Seamus flew the coop, as soon as they reached Canada. Never to be seen again.

This story sickens me deeply, because dogs have no choice but to trust their owners to protect them and provide consistency... A family dog has zero ability to protest or refuse to do what their owner wants.

I rescued a mini pinscher 2 years ago... Shortly, after I got her I was taking her for a walk before an impending thunderstorm... A HUGE clap of thunder frightened her and she yanked herself free from her collar and took off running so fast (like a cheetah)... I watched her disappear down a road... a tiny black and tan dot. I found her eventually, and she trembled in my lap for the rest of the day.... I can imagine how terrorized Seamus must have been trapped on the roof of that car during the trip ... the loud noises, the wind, and the complete lack of control. Poor soul.

I have two questions that I would ask Romney if I ever had the chance... One would be... "Take a moment and try to imagine what Seamus experienced when you tied him to the roof of your car for 12 hours and describe it from a his perspective." He would fail... He fails the empathy test time and time again.

The story is really sick. Being an Aussie, I don't know much about American politicians. But this story really beats all the saga our politicians are going through right now. In Oz, ppl get prosecuted for abusing animals. Maybe US should think about prosecuting Romney (but the statute of limitation may apply... sad).

What Romney should have done was, tie one of his sons to the car roof and see whether he enjoyed the 12 hour trip to Canada. Maybe Romney is into torturing things....

Looks like Romney had a 5 year old child's brain when he was in his 30s. So whatever his age is right now, his current mental age would be equivalent to a high school lad. I hope Americans are smart enough not to vote for the dude. Good luck America!!

You can tell the character of a man by how he treats those that are lesser than he is.

So, IMHO Romney's an arrogant, elitist asshole. I'm sure that the Seamus story (which is certainly enough for me to have that opinion of Romney) is only one of many that illustrate the "real" Mitt.

If a dog likes sticking its head out the window in a moving vehicle (note, it's not good for them), it's gonna loooooovvvve being in a carrier on top.

He thinks he is perfectly imitating human culture by taking the dog on vacation strapped to the roof.

When the dog shits and pisses himself with fright and it runs down the back of the car, no problem! Hose it off at the next hydrocarbon refueling portal.

Either that, or he is mildly autistic and unaware of how his words and actions are perceived by others.

In that sense, he is the perfect evolution of the Republican idiot: Dan Quayle knew when he said something stupid and would get a deer in the headlights look in his eyes. W knew when he said something stupid or didn't know the answer to a question, but would get mad at whoever asked him, like they were trying to trick him. Romney seems blithely unaware, and just awaits his next software update.

The number of dog lovers, the number of animal lovers, and the number of people who don't necessarily love animals but recognize cruelty when they see it will be rightly horrified.

He is unfit to be President of anything, never mind of an entire country dependent on combined sound judgement, empathy and compassion.
