Dear Ronald Reagan: Thanks for Wrecking America - How do you like your party now, Ronnie?

Dear Ronald Reagan: Thanks for Wrecking America - How do you like your party now, Ronnie? A Mormon everyone hates, a world-historical balloon animal 10 years past his sell-by date, a survivalist crank from Texas, and a guy who is pretty much a dick. That’s the party you and your boys created. That’s the end product of the “conservative movement” of which you were the amiable and occasionally coherent figurehead, a prop in your own life. You know how you know that’s the case, Ronnie? Look how hard they’re trying to memorialize you in concrete and marble. They stuck your name on National Airport, and on the biggest and ugliest building in Washington, D.C., to celebrate your devotion to smaller government…

Apparently I'm not the only one for whom Reagan exposed the darkside of the Republican agenda thus setting the stage to a swing (realignment) to an ideal that was filled with much less douchebaggery.

Denise's late father always referred to JFK airport by it's original name, Idlewild. Does that make me old?

After all, Ronnie was way past his sell-by date by the time he entered the White House, and he was pretty much a dick, so he could definitely relate to at least two of them.

but people voted him in for two terms. What was up with that? It made for a couple nights of me getting drunk on my ass while watching all those states go red. But to now label him as "the most popular President" ever? Now, that's harder to swallow than a triple martini.

during that time somebody had to pony up some money for Mr Mule Team. There had to be money for Reagan for some big wallet conservative to get him going. it just wasn't Nancy who pushed him out of bed in the morning, although she was a factor.

Why did the wing-nuts of the time back him instead of Barry Goldwater, because of Reagan's ability to work with a Chimp, and make the chimp feel fulfilled.

selling crap on TV when it was in its infancy. He parlayed that skill into political gold. We could have had Ron Popeil as president, but he just wanted to hawk Chef of the Future. Maybe Ron Popeil wouldn't have bankrupted the Treasury for the benefit of his wealthy backers.
Reagan's true legacy is the caste system he fostered. The permanent underclass provides cheap labor for the wealthy elites.
