Will an aggressive PR response create enemies? Absolutely, just as Israel defending itself will do.

srael is hunkering down, but instead of feeling defeated, it’s getting ready to take on the world.

My visit to Israel during this war has shown me that Israeli leaders of every stripe, from Left to Right, feel embattled, besieged, beleaguered. But also defiant and unbroken. They are already building ramparts for Fortress Israel.

The world, the feeling goes, is turning on us as never before. Our outreach to the nations, especially Europe, has failed completely. They are solidly anti-Israel or anti-Semitic, with little distinction between the two.

The solution is Fortress Israel, an island nation with two principal defenses: its military and its relationship with the United States.

Forget the UN. It nominates Ahmadinejad toadies like William Schabas. It investigates Israel while even Islamic State and Boko Haram get a pass. Forget France, which is returning to pogroms. Screw Britain, with MPs saying they’d also fire rockets at Jews in Israel.

2. Wonder if Rabbi Boteach's group had any part

in the attack on "Common Dreams" and other Progressive Websites?

I had to look up who he was because when I first saw the author name in your OP, I thought he was a Southern Religious Fundamentalist because of his name "Boteach." I had never heard of him and Boteach is a name that is common in parts of South. I went to school with a Boteach and he was a Southern Baptist and he wasn't Jewish. Then, I thought the article might be from the "Onion" but as I read on, I realized it wasn't.

He's interesting, for sure...quite a celebrity, too.

Billionaire casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Mariam, have given half a million dollars to a super PAC supporting a popular rabbi running for Congress in northern New Jersey.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that the Adelsons made their donations to Patriot Prosperity PAC, an independent-expenditure group backing Shmuley Boteach, whose House bid against eight-term incumbent Rep. Bill Bascrell (D-N.J.) is considered a long shot but could garner national attention with the big-money injection.

The Adelsons' financial support “is a game-changer, and I suspect there will be many more like it,” Boteach told the Journal in a statement through his spokesman.

Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson is still playing guardian angel to a certain rabbi running for Congress in New Jersey.

Mr. Adelson, CEO of the Las Vegas Sands empire, and his wife, Miriam Adelson, have given another $500,000 to the Patriot Prosperity PAC, an independent super PAC supporting Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, according to people with knowledge of the gift.

That brings the Adelsons’ total support for him to more than $1 million this year –they also gave $10,000 directly to his campaign.
