Leaders of the Phoenix bus drivers' union and the company that runs the service have reached a contract agreement, eliminating the possibility of a strike that could have affected more than a dozen routes during the Super Bowl.

Union officials and the company reached an agreement early this morning after an all-night negotiation.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said at a press conference Tuesday that he spent the night with the two parties to push them to reach consensus. Stanton said he was personally passionate about avoiding a strike.
