Pope: Catholics don't have to breed 'like rabbits'
By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press | January 19, 2015 | Updated: January 19, 2015 3:29pm

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) — Pope Francis is firmly upholding church teaching banning contraception, but said Monday that Catholics don't have to breed "like rabbits" and should instead practice "responsible parenting."

Speaking to reporters en route home from the Philippines, Francis said there are plenty of church-approved ways to regulate births. But he said most importantly, no outside institution should impose its views on regulating family size, blasting what he called the "ideological colonization" of the developing world.

African bishops, in particular, have long complained about how progressive, Western ideas about birth control and gay rights are increasingly being imposed on the developing world by groups, institutions or individual nations, often as a condition for development aid.

"Every people deserves to conserve its identity without being ideologically colonized," Francis said.

are around 'AP' in the credit for Associated Press. You're objecting to that now?

How was anyone meant to know that when you type 'italics', you mean "Parenthesis, quote marks, chopped off sentences, context"? Since you genuinely don't seem to know what the word means, try this:

In typography, italic type is a cursive font based on a stylized form of calligraphic handwriting. Owing to the influence from calligraphy, such fonts normally slant slightly to the right. Italics are a way to emphasise key points in a printed text, or when quoting a speaker a way to show which words they stressed. One manual of English usage described italics as "the print equivalent of underlining".[1]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italic_type

As for the rest of your whine:

"quote marks" - these are used to indicate what the pope said, such as 'like rabbits'. Are you objecting to people quoting the pope, the way that Muslim extremists object to people drawing Muhammad?

"chopped off sentences" - which sentences do you think are 'chopped off'?

"context" - what about it? The only problem I've see with context in this thread is trying to work out the context of your complaints. When you use a word like 'italics' when you don't know what it means, you make it very difficult for anyone to create any context for your posts at all.

In Africa last year, AIDS took about 1.5 million lives, it is the number one killer on the continent. The 1.5 million is actually 'good news' as it is trending downward because of increased education, condom use and better access to treatment.
So there's that.

He's a stone cold creature, that Francis. And his Bishops in Africa include those in places like Uganda which have been active in the anti gay laws there, in spite of claims that only American evangelicals are to blame. Uganda is 43% Catholic, 40% Anglican. But Pope fans claim Evangelicals from the US run the place/

children. It is ridiculous for the Pope to voice an opinion on birth control. He knows nothing about what it means to be in a committed relationship with someone. As far as I'm concerned, his advice and opinion on this are worth about as much as that of a three-year-old.
