Newt Gingrich Bitten By Penguin At St. Louis Zoo

Source: huffingtonpost

ST. LOUIS — At least one penguin at the St. Louis Zoo appears to be a feisty opponent of Newt Gingrich.

The Republican presidential candidate is sporting a small bandage on his finger after getting nipped by a small penguin during his tour of the zoo on Friday. Gingrich was in St. Louis to speak during the National Rifle Association's annual meeting.

During his visit to the popular zoo in Forest Park, he was treated to a behind-the-scenes visit with two Magellanic penguins. One of them nipped Gingrich on the finger.

Newt was probably thinking how nice the penguin would be in the form of a coat, belt, or shoes. So of course the penguin bit him. Animals have a sixth sense about these sorts of things.

"The ad opens with Gingrich and Pelosi sitting side-by-side on a couch in front of the Capitol Building.

'We don’t always see eye to eye, do we Newt?' Pelosi asks.

'No, but we do agree that our country must take action to address climate change,' Gingrich responds.

Pelosi then says, 'We need cleaner forms of energy and we need them fast,' after which Gingrich calls on voters to 'demand action from our leaders' in order to 'spark the innovation we need.'”

In an interview this week with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Gingrich said the ad “is probably the dumbest thing I’ve done in recent years.”

You're either for the penguins, polar bears and life as we know it or you're against it.

Newt needs to make up his mind and have the integrity to stand behind it one way or the other before he ever thinks about messing with the polar bears.

Thanks for the thread, Grassy Knoll.

The Republican presidential candidate is sporting a small bandage on his finger after getting nipped by a small penguin during his tour of the zoo on Friday. Gingrich was in St. Louis to speak during the National Rifle Association's annual meeting.

The penguin felt threatened, and acted under the "stand your ground law". He was, unfortunately, not carrying a gun, which makes me ask: Were the hell was the NRA? Why weren't they making sure that this law-abiding penguin was not being assaulted by suspiciously-dressed old, fat white men? Why is there no law making it legal for penguins to get "conceal/carry" permits?

First it's interesting that the man who proposed privatizing all the national parks (the plank in the contract on america that taught me to hate republicans) as the St. Louis zoo is largely supported by tax dollars and is an excellent facility.
If you are ever there the penguin exhibit is unique as the animals are not enclosed. There is a chest high 3-4" thick plexiglass wall so you can see the penguins above and below the water. My wife could spend hours there. Once a penguin hopped on the wall and fell to the floor in front of us. They also do a penguin parade once a month in cold weather and walk them from one door to the other.
There are rocks around the enclosures so the penguins can sit above your head and look down. I'd guess he was stupid enough to reach toward one.
