Huckabee: ‘Cultural Divide’ Stops Obama Kids From Liking ‘Wholesome’ Music

Source: The Raw Story & ABC News 'This Week'

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee suggested on Sunday that President Barack Obama had not taught his children that Beyonce’s music was not “wholesome” because the Obamas lived on the wrong side of the “cultural divide.” Huckabee had said that he didn’t understand why the Obamas could be so concerned about what their daughters ate, “and yet they don’t see anything that might not be suitable for a teen in some of the lyrical content and choreography of Beyoncé.”

On Sunday, the former Arkansas governor told ABC host Martha Raddatz that people needed understand the “context” of his comments. “Beyonce is a wonderful talent,” he admitted. “My point is, she doesn’t have to do some of the things that she does in the lyrics because it’s not necessary. She has nothing to make up for. She’s an amazing talent.”

“My point was, even in speaking about the Obamas, and I said about them in [my new] book, they’re great parents,” Huckabee continued. “But it was President Obama in Glamour who said that some of the lyrics, he won’t listen to with his daughters because it embarrasses him.” “Well, here’s my point, if it embarrasses you then why would you possibly think it’s wholesome for your children to put it into their heads?”

Huckabee, who recently quit his Fox News hosting job to explore a presidential campaign, argued that Barack and Michelle Obama were “great parents… they’re careful about making sure their kids get a lot of vegetables and eat right.” “Well, what you put in your brain is also important,” he added. “It’s about this cultural divide, the disconnect between the three bubbles of New York, D.C. and Hollywood vs. the land of ‘Gods, Guns, Grits and Gravy.’”

The more disruption this can cause among the enemy camp - the better! Let him run off at the mouth. As the tall thin gentleman from the White House once said..."Please Proceed, Governor!" Go right ahead and dig yourself further down into that hole! We really don't have the heart to get in your way.

All the easier then for our side to point at him and say "SEE? THIS is what you get when you vote republi-CON! Like it? Is That YOU??????"

HEY CONS - does THAT speak for YOU? (PLEEEEEEZE say yes!!!)

The more of this there is, the more it will drive greater numbers of even remotely-reasonable Americans away from them and toward us. Hell, I'll settle for the "away from them" part. That's the kind of thing that helps discourage THEIR side, and motivate more of THEIR numbers to stay home on Election Day. All it will do is solidify and give more fire-in-the-belly certitude to his tiny sliver of followers, and that in turn will only scare and alienate a larger group of potential voters. If he talks purty-enough, hopefully, a whole bunch of those bozos will be convinced (by God, I'm sure) that they need to peel off and form their own party. That would be BEAUTY BEAUTY BEAUTY! Then there's no way either they OR the GOP that they abandoned can win the White House for maybe a few decades! All they'll do is shit on their own overall "cause."

The GOP loves to try the "divide and conquer" strategy on our side. Hopefully they get a pants-load of it, themselves! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see an evangelical nutcase splinter "party" develop from this. Maybe take the teabagger contingent and morph it a little farther "right." There'll be so few reasonable moderate republi-CONS left that you'll be able to house them in a single little club-house on C Street.

Which is nothing but good for US.

Let's let huckabee be huckabee! Let ol' mike's mouth work - for US! Keep talkin', huckabooboo!

Are you a crazy fundamentalist Christian? The pedophile analogy is really uncalled for and over the edge. Part of Huckabee's beliefs is in only sexual abstinence is the "proper" way to prevent pregnancy. Sex Ed, birth control, after morning pills, and abortions are also part of his beliefs. He thinks it's right and proper for the state to force physicians to administer unnecessary ultrasounds. He thinks women should all be stay at home Moms. Women should not be leaders in their Church. He thinks his religious beliefs are the only ones that matter, and that America is a Christian nation. Well it's not. Some politicians think that trickle-down economics are peachy keen, and that global warming is a hoax. Do you respect that?

Jailbait you look so good to me
Jailbait wonґt you set me free
Jailbait you look fine fine fine

Jailbait you look fine fine fine

Honey you you you look so nice
Sheґs young sheґs tender
Wonґt you please surrender
She's so fine sheґs mine
All the time, all mine mine
Itґs all right baby
Itґs quite all right I asked your mama

How anyone could go on stage with a person who shit his pants to get out of going to Viet Nam and then support the war is not fit to for any office let alone be the pastor of a congregation. Just a fat mouthed slob.

He really raised some swell kids. His son, David, was charged with hanging a dog a Boy Scout Camp when he was 17 years old and a counselor. He confessed and he was fired. Huckabee pressured the director of police to not press charges and when he didn't cooperate he fired him seven month later telling him that he had lost confidence in him since he would not assist in the cover-up. The same son was arrested for attempting to bringing a handgun in his luggage on a airplane.

Yeah, he should be elected father of the year, not.

David Huckabee

During his father's 2008 presidential campaign, both Newsweek and the Los Angeles Times reported that the younger Huckabee had been dismissed as a Boy Scout camp counselor in 1998.[13][14] Huckabee, then 17, was alleged to have been involved in the hanging of a stray dog.[13]

When an animal rights group sought records from the Arkansas state police the request was denied. John Bailey, the then-police chief reported that &quot Mike Huckabee's) chief of staff and personal lawyer both pressured him to write a letter officially denying the local prosecutor's request."[13] Mike Huckabee fired Bailey seven months later. In December 2007, Bailey told Newsweek that the governor told him "I've lost confidence in your ability to do your job" and "I couldn't get you to help me with my son when I had that problem."[13]

Mike Huckabee flatly denied Bailey's account.[13] He insisted his son did not engage in "intentional torture." A campaign official said that David Huckabee "regrets the incident."[13]

--and--

Huckabee was arrested at 6:00 AM,[15] on April 26, 2007, for attempting to board a plane departing from Little Rock, Arkansas, with a loaded Glock handgun.[16] A misdemeanor charge was brought against him for "attempting to carry a gun in a prohibited place." Huckabee had a concealed-weapon permit at the time of the incident and said he forgot about the weapon in his luggage. A Little Rock Police lieutenant was quoted as saying, "It is not unusual for people to forget they have a gun in their carry-on luggage."[15] He entered a guilty plea with the court.[16] He received a one-year suspended sentence with 10 days of community service.[17]

Back in the day, the National Park Service sponsored a really big Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall complete with music by the Beach Boys (I know -- you young whippersnappers never heard of 'em). Then came Ronnie Raygun and that dumbass he appointed as Secretary of the Interior.

Raygun's Interior Secretary decreed that the Beach Boys' music was not suitable for public concerts, so, he invited Wayne Newton. The result was disastrous -- Newton was not popular. Then someone pointed out that Wayne Newton's entire career was in Vegas -- he bombed anytime he left Vegas -- and here we had the squeaky-clean Raygun administration sponsoring a mob-related Vegas pretty boy on the National Mall.

Hickabee is following in Raygun's footsteps.

I think Youtube took it down.

Welk was trying to be hip.

They had Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground on but didn't show them on camera.
People were bouncing around trying to waltz but really not knowing where the beat was.
The band was singing "Sister Ray" so the dancers were hearing about the joys of heroin addiction.

"I am searching for my mainline, I am searching for my mainline"

Just as clueless as that "modern spiritual"!!!

My grandmother who was born in 1898 walked through the den on Saturday morning when the granddaughters were trying to tune in American Bandstand on the old black and white TV. We had to have tall antennas back then, because we were about 75 miles from the nearest TV station. This would have been in the 60s after the British Invasion of 1964.

She walked through and said "Y'all shouldn't be listening to that NIGRA MUSIC".

We all laughed our butts off behind her back as she walked through. She just didn't know.
I should have said something like, "Yeah that Dick Clark, he is just SO BLACK".

Here's reality: If America is stupid enough to elect this man president, he WILL do everything in his power to turn America into a Christian theocracy. That can't happen.

I have looked at all the Republicans who will probably run for office, and the only one I can think of who wouldn't turn America into a Christian theocracy is Chris Christie - who believes in classical fascism.

Jan 2015

New York Times (2007): Huckabee ordered soup and a sandwich without drama or comment...and began talking about rock ’n’ roll...I...asked who he would like to play at his inaugural. ‘‘I’ve got to start with the Stones,’’ Huckabee said.

The governor regards 1968 as the dawning of ‘‘the age of the birth-control pill, free love, gay sex, the drug culture and reckless disregard for standards.’’ The Rolling Stones album Their Satanic Majesties Request provided the soundtrack for that annus terribilis.

But Mike Huckabee wanted me to know that he believes in the separation of church and stage. The governor’s musical wish list also included John Mellencamp, who, he noted, would be welcome despite their differing political views; the country duo Brooks & Dunn; Stevie Wonder; and, surprisingly, Grand Funk Railroad. ‘‘That’s a groundbreaking group,’’ he said earnestly. ‘‘The bass player, Mel Schacher, is very underrated. ’’

And Mr. Huckabee wins the gold medal for completing a two-and-a half twisting self-contradiction with a pike! Doesn't he know that "the rock beat" is:

...a dominant and repetitious offbeat which competes with the melody and distracts from the words of a song. The contradictory messages in the beat, the words, the melody, the style of the presentation, and the appearance of the musicians all create a subtle confusion in the minds, wills, and emotions of the listeners, which leads them to question the absolute moral standards of God...

In this letter, a member of the band 98 Degrees tries to intercede with an associate of Huckabee's in hopes of saving him:

I learned that you and Governor Huckabee are longtime associates and that you were photographed together at a recent “Huckabee for President” campaign event at a Houston home...Though it’s been widely reported in the media, it may have escaped your attention that Gov. Huckabee not only loves rock music, he plays bass guitar in a rock band!

Do you want a Commander in Chief who willfully violates your “Ten Commandments of Rock”? Do you want The Star-Spangled Banner performed with the “ROCK BEAT”? I’m sure you recognize this Commitment to Reject the Deception of the ‘Rock Beat’ in Any Form, a pledge you have asked others to sign:

“Almighty Father, based on the authority of your Word and the testimony of others, I now purpose to remove from my life any music that contains a 'ROCK BEAT'; and to replace it with melodious music that glorifies You and edifies others.”

Signature _______________________________________ Date_______________

For decades, you’ve been blaming rock music for society’s problems. Now’s your chance to...take some personal responsibility (and) make an international public statement...I’m now calling on you to make a public request for your good friend Mike Huckabee to sign it, too.

Oh, and here is he is performing the ultra wholesome Catch Scratch Fever with the ultra wholesome Ted Nugent (link):

Well I never kept a dollar past sunset
It always burned a hole in my pants
Never made a school mama happy
Never blew a second chance, oh no

I need a love to keep me happy
I need a love to keep me happy
Baby, baby keep me happy
Baby, baby keep me happy

Always took candy from strangers
Didn't wanna get me no trade
Never want to be like papa
Working for the boss every night and day

I need a love to keep me happy
I need a love, baby won't you keep me happy?
Baby, won't you keep me happy
Baby, please keep me

Been shot and cut with a knife... For messin' round with another man's wife,
But other taht that we ain't nothing but good ol' boys.

Threw my my boss out the window and got fired from my last job.
Hot wired a city truck and turned it over in the Mayor's yard.
Well... I beat my brother-in law half to death... I lost 20 bucks on his football bet.
Other than that, We ain't nothin but good ol' boys.

Now that's the kind of music teenagers should be listening to!

Huckabee can't find a real political policy to propose that might actually help people. His solutions are pray away the gay, tell women to stop using birth control, be happy with you 3 part-time jobs, and tithe 10% of your income to him.

Sun Jan 18, 2015, 05:38 PM
Jan 2015

I feel the same way about my older siblings, who are ALL fox-fools. They eat their dinner in front of bor and his line-up of seditious pigs. They believe EVERYTHING that is spewed on that disgusting network of filth and propaganda....yet they put wholesome COSTCO ready cooked meals in their mouths every night.

Just kidding on the latter, but not about my siblings being dense fox-sewage-gobblers. Like MILLIONS of older and dumber amerikkkans, fox-nonsense is their security blanket, and they suckle up next to it every night, and wouldn't think of missing an eveing of "fox-nonsense". NONE of them are particularly bright. The younger kids all went on with their education into college and beyond, but not the older ones. They married military men and some even worked damned hard and put EVERYTHING away to build up their nest eggs. Now, all of them are financial well fit and have pensions and social security covering their daily bills. They couldn't care less about the poor or sinking middle-class in this country, because THEY got THEIRS!

Yup hucklejesus, I totally understand how you can take issue with lyrics. fox-nonsense is notorious for "lyrics". Since the early days, jargons and catch-phrases have been the back bone of keeping your followers stupid and simple minded. Mike would know all about it. Mind manipulation...especially when it is ALL you hear. I'm thinking the Obama girls listen to more than Beyonce, unlike the majority of fox-clones that won't allow themselves to be "contaminated" by other views. How sad indeed.

69. Talk about "destruction of families"!
Sun Jan 18, 2015, 07:14 PM
Jan 2015

Parents have been micromanaging their kids music ever since I can remember. Part of the issue is that the music industry is always promoting new artists, which is good for a few lucky artists. In trying to keep this in context, the music one prefers is a like or dislike, not an action.

It is always useful to realize the source of this micromanagement, and resentment of unreasonable micromanagement, is "Christian morality." These are the kinds of resentments which break up families.
