Tea Party Speaker Reportedly Tells LGBT Protesters: 'We Will Not Be Silenced By Faggots'

Source: Huffington Post

A Tea Party tax day protest and counter-demonstration in Boston got testy over the weekend, with the confrontation reportedly leading to a speaker telling a group of LGBT activists that they wouldn't be "silenced by faggots."

Scott Wooledge relays the supposed slur in a lengthy post at Daily Kos breaking down the encounter between Tea Partyers, counter-protesters from numerous progressive groups and police officers.

Reports from attendees were that in response to disturbances by protestors, one of the speakers said from the podium, broadcast across the loud speakers at the Commons, "We will not be silenced by faggots."

The comment reportedly came while police were being dispatched to break up the counter-demonstration against, among other things, the presence and honoring of anti-gay activist Scott Lively at the event.

They're the English and Irish equivalent of Swedish meat balls and go back to at least the 1800's.

btw - they're exactly what Kirsty MacColl was singing about in Fairytale of New York.... lousy meaning mouldy.

It's not like tea partiers are known far and wide for their misspelled, misinformed, hateful bigoted protest signs already.

He was a supporter and lead advocate for a whole bunch of nasty anti-LGBT ballot measures here, along with noted gay-hater Lon Mabon. I really can't understand how guys like that spend their whole adult lives working against their fellow humans. Haters gotta hate, I guess.

Okay, that's not true. I do know.

Because he gets paid to do it.

I hope my brothers and sisters in Massachusetts, regardless of sexual orientation, show him the same hospitality.

Just read the Wikipedia entry on this guy. Unbelievable. Except I saw it for myself, right up front.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Lively

Some choice snips for those who don't wanna read the whole WikiLink:

<snip>Along with Kevin E. Abrams, he co-authored the book The Pink Swastika, which states in the preface that "homosexuals are the true inventors of Nazism and the guiding force behind many Nazi atrocities."</snip>

<snip>In 1991, Lively assaulted Catherine Stauffer, throwing her against a wall and dragging her across the floor of a Portland church, at an Oregon Citizens Alliance (OCA) event she had been trying to film.[14] Stauffer received a judgment of over $31,000 against Lively and the OCA in 1992. (note: the OCA was an anti-gay hate group active in Oregon from the nineties through the mid-2000's.)</snip>

<snip>In March 2010, Lively wrote:
In my view, homosexuality (indeed all sex outside of marriage) should be actively discouraged by society -- but only as aggressively as necessary to prevent the mainstreaming of alternative sexual lifestyles, and with concern for the preservation of the liberties of those who desire to keep their personal lifestyles private. Marriage-based culture served humanity very favorably during the centuries when homosexuality was disapproved but tolerated as a sub-culture in America, England and elsewhere. It has obviously not fared well in the decades since the so-called sexual revolution kicked open Pandora’s Box and unleashed both rampant heterosexual promiscuity and "Gay Pride" on the world.

In March of this year I had the privilege of addressing members of the Ugandan parliament in their national assembly hall when the anti-homosexuality law was just being considered. I urged them to pattern their bill on some American laws regarding alcoholism and drug abuse. I cited my own pre-Christian experience being arrested for drunk driving. I was given and chose the option of therapy which turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. I also cited the policy in some U.S. jurisdictions regarding marijuana. Criminalization of the drug prevents its users from promoting it, and discourages non-users from starting, even while the law itself is very lightly enforced, if at all.</snip>

And they are honoring this evil bastard??

Perspective from the Beaver State, where he's tried unsuccessfully to run this bullshit before.

That they are out of touch, because our kids already don't care if anyone's a faggot.

Who wants to silence them?! Every time they open their mouth, they put their feet in it.

I read a couple of stories last week about the baggers planning a rally at Justin Hermann Plaza in San Francisco (also the site of many OWS events). I actually spent a little time yesterday looking to see how the Saturday rally turned out. I can't find a word about it, and I'm under the assumption that none of them thought to bring toll money from their homes in Antioch, Pittsburgh, and Benicia. Whatever the case, the turnout was so underwhelming that I can't find a shred of reporting on the event after the fact.

...expect a repackaging and rebranding by the Koch brothers leading up to the election to divert our so-called "liberal media" from the latest shiny con job. I'll bet good old Fox will scoop the rest of them to report the new whacktastic astroturf movement when next it appears.

I'd say I'd like to punch them and call them poop stains but I like to post here, too much, to be ppr'ed again, wishing violent happening to morons. So I won't.
