Several 100 yards away. So at least 2 football fields away. That's not "at".

I can't think of too many places in New Castle County where one can legally discharge a firearm.

As a local, I can understand the confusion.

You can't actually get very "near" to the house either, as it is situated on a private road which is gated well away from any public road.

"Kate, if you want to protect yourself, get a double barreled shotgun," Biden responded. "I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that's wooded and somewhat secluded. I said, Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put [up] that double barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house."

Vice President Joe Biden told Field & Stream magazine in an interview published Monday, "[if] you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door."

I live about four miles from there.

There is no public road where you can get a shot "at" any of the houses off of the private drive leading into that area.

There's a gate house to the private drive off of Barley Mill Road, which is a narrow twisty road, and I would imagine stopping there would attract attention pretty quick.

I can understand the confusion over "at" or "near" by persons who don't understand the geography.

It's more like a small compound of houses which are set in the middle of a huge buffer of land away from any public road.
