Phone left in restroom triggers Delta bomb scare

UBLIN - A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency landing Monday in Dublin because of a suspicious object on board, but airport authorities and police said it was a false alarm.
Irish Aviation Authority spokeswoman Lilian Cassin said the pilot requested an emergency landing "because of a suspicious device on board."
Ireland's national police force, the Garda Siochana, said officers searched the aircraft, but found no bomb and made no arrests.
Delta spokesman Anthony Black said the Boeing 767 aircraft traveling from Istanbul, Turkey, to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport had 208 passengers and 11 crew members. He said the aircraft was refueled to continue its journey later Monday.

(15,189 posts)I have a question for TSA. What happens if a flight has 60 people on board, and 35 are "terrorist"? How hard would it be to find light flights, and take over the planes? No need for bombs, knives, or guns. Just hand to hand combat. How long are they going to put on this show? I asked yesterday, how come buses and subways don't have a TSA version of their own? Bombs on a subway or train, or bus can be just as dangerous. This is so overblown, it's ridiculous.

(12,008 posts)What the hell is the point of having those checks take place if a plane will still be grounded based on nothing but insane suspicion? Clearly nothing ill was on the plane, because it was checked for. What is the point of trying to have it both ways?
