Forrest Gump actor (& Bobby Jindal) to speak for group that thinks homosexuality can be ‘cured’
Source: Pink News
Forrest Gump actor Gary Sinise is to speak at a summit for an anti-gay Catholic group that believes homosexuality can be cured.
Sinise is best known for his role in the film adapataion of Of Mice and Men, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Lt Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump.
However, the actor is set to speak at an event for Legatus a Catholic organisation that encourages people to seek a cure for homosexuality.
The groups website lists Sinise alongside the Governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal, and Fox anchor Bret Baier as speakers at the secretive event, in Florida later this month.

(2,153 posts)Even though baptists think Catholics are idol worshippers and are all going to hell. Here's the bottom line: you can believe that God lives in the moon for all I care. But you can't go around trying to impose you religious beliefs on others. And that is what your objection to gays is - nothing more than a religious belief. Tell you what, Gary, why don't you make sure your own back yard is clean before your worry about somebody else's... That is what Jesus tells you to do, you know....

(4,647 posts)For me, faith has been a catalyst for my mission to honor the men and women who serve in our nations military. When I accepted the invitation to speak at the Legatus conference about Veterans issues and share my story, I was unaware of the controversy surrounding some of the participants, and their views on personal matters. I dont want my missionwhich is designed to be unifyingto be disrupted by these, or any controversies, and therefore have decided to withdraw.

In a dynamic way, Legatus brings together the three key areas of a Catholic business leaders life Faith, Family and Business connecting two powerful realities, the challenge of top-tier business leadership and a religious tradition second to none.
Legatus, the Latin word for ambassador, exists to help you become an ambassador for Christ (2Cor 5:20) and help you meet the challenges of balancing the responsibilities of faith, family, business and community. Since 1987 Legatus has been bringing together Catholic business leaders and their spouses in a unique format that fosters spiritual growth, formation and commitment.
The organization offers a unique support network of like-minded Catholics who influence the world marketplace and have the ability to practice and infuse their faith in the daily lives and workplaces of their family, friends, colleagues and employees

(42,778 posts)I'm no fan of Sinise's politics, but from what I can tell, his involvment with Legatus has been centered on its work with veterans, which is Sinise's main interest.
Its probably worth noting that last year Bob Newhart agreed to speak at the Legatus conference, but then cancelled.
