Ann Romney: Hilary Rosen Controversy Was 'My Early Birthday Present'

Source: Huffington Post

During a closed-door fundraiser in Florida, Ann Romney described Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen's recent criticism of her choosing to be a stay-at-home mother as an "early birthday present," according to a report by NBC News.

While speaking at the fundraiser for her husband Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, Ann Romney told the audience that Rosen's slam was a boon to her and her husband's campaign.

"It was my early birthday present for someone to be critical of me as a mother, and that was really a defining moment, and I loved it," Romney said.

Romney also said that the media's nonstop coverage of Rosen's criticism, along with the ensuing "war on moms," was a "gift" in the early stages of her husband's general election push.

First of all Hilary Rosen was not critical of her as a mother. She simply said that her background shielded her from the rigors that ordinary women face with juggling work with being a mom and running the family budget. So, not only is Ann Romney as out of touch as her husband, she has some of the same problems with telling the truth as her husband.

Not bright. Dim bulbs.

I believe their wealth came merely from connections, not from some stunning brilliance on the part of Mitt as he ran Bain Capital. I just don't see him as either a smart thinker or a sharp businessman.

I had no opinion about Ann Romney - until she started speaking up recently. And I find her just as dim witted as he is. What an assinine comment for her to make, even behind closed doors. War on moms, my ass - she seems to not realize that no one finds her attempts to identify with the struggles of the other 99% plausible in any way, because of the mass of money that stands between how she lives and how the rest of us live.

When you have that kind of wealth, you don't really have a meaningful or life/death kind of budget issue to struggle with - ever. You can make choices based on nothing more than desire, not need. This certainly isn't a war on moms, but Ann might manage to make it a war on the wealthy if she keeps sticking her foot further into her mouth on any issue where her extreme wealth clouds her judgment. Which would be pretty much every issue that a human can encounter.

a man who has so little retention abilities that he can't remember what he has said previously, at least not enough to even make a plausible change of position as needed.

He just blurts out a new position, because he hasn't the capacity to remember his old ones and make new arguments consistent with the old ones. Plenty of people change position, on the fly, but the ones who are not low IQ can at least try to make an argument as to why they are changing position. Not just appear to forget they ever held another conflicting opinion about a subject.

As to the lies, well, it just doesn't take a rocket scientist level of smarts to lie. And from what I've seen, old Mitt doesn't even lie well.

He simply has shown none of the talents or intelligence or better, the absolute ruthless cunning it may take in the free market of which he speaks to actually be doing anything that might have amassed his vast fortune. I'm guessing he was a dull dipshit hired because of his daddy the .gov and auto whiz, along with all that Cranbrook private school connection stuff.

That is how he survived from birth on - his daddy gave him things. Like stock to live on during college, a home to live in during further education, and on and on. He hasn't needed to be actually smart to achieve anything, with his connections he even was allowed to go to schools that should have been beyond his abilities (like George Bush). Worthless wastes of breath and minds, taking up space that someone else with real potential should have been given. In a more perfect world, anyway.

Mitt Romeny:
... while I was governor, 85% of the people on a form of welfare assistance in my state, had no work requirement. And I wanted to increase the work requirement. I said, for instance, that even if you have a child two years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, well that’s heartless. And I said no, no, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It will cost the state more, providing that day care. But I want the individuals to have the dignity of work. ...

A new Caddy? Another house? A diamond studded paper towel holder? An early birthday present for an average mom is a bucket of chicken instead of cooking dinner after a long day at the second job.

Once again the M$M and the GOP pundits have managed to take a non issue and occupy the nations psyche with it.

And once again we all fell for the bullshit.

A simple statement about an ultra rich woman who past childbirth probably has not done much of anything in life vs the fact that the GOP openly is working to control every womb in America and what is the media talking about. The comments made about the guided one.

Rosen doesn't even work for Obama. She works for CNN. Maybe the Democrats need to pounce on everything Erik Erickson says or some other RW hack and grab back the headlines. It shouldn't be hard. Rush says stupid stuff everyday. Hannity says stupid stuff everyday. The list is long.

Why is this dominating the news cycles when and actual GOP congressman accused 80 of the House Democrats of being Communists. Where is the outrage over that?

Because the whole Hillary Rosen comment is starting to backfire in the faces of Mitt and Ann. They've pulled up plenty of clips where Mitt talks about how moms should be forced to work even if they are the only means of taking care of the children. And of course we have discussed to death the fact that the only work Ann has ever done at home is order the nannies, butlers, servants, gardners and other household working class to do their job (at a very low wage we found out).
