Rupert Murdoch: Muslims must be held responsible for France terror attacks
Source: The Guardian
Rupert Murdoch has been strongly criticised after tweeting that most Muslims even if peaceful must be held responsible for the religions growing jihadist cancer in the wake of the terror attacks in France.
The News Corp boss added his influential voice to the global discussion on terror that has convulsed social media since gunmen slaughtered 12 people at the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris on Wednesday.

Murdochs tweet on Saturday morning which came in the wake of the killing of five more civilians at a kosher supermarket in Paris on Friday was retweeted more than 1,500 times, and favourited by more than 767 people.
But the tweet angered many who criticised Murdoch for holding a religion of billions of peaceful people responsible for the actions of a minority of extremists.

One Twitter user referenced Murdochs own responsiblity in the case of the News Corp phone-hacking scandal, while the Australian comedian Adam Hills was sceptical about the media moguls contribution to the debate.

I do not believe every muslims in France should be held responsible for what some did in Islams name - I do believe the guilty ones should be convicted of a crime if possible - and in this case I doubt much can be doing - all the time they are dead - and can not end up in a court or to be convicted to a lengthy prison time...
And it is also against international Law - who strictly forbid the use of collective punishment against nations, or group of people - even if the Geneva conventions of 1949 is starting to be old - it is still international LAW - and every who have written under the Geneva-Conventions is bound by the law....

(26,549 posts)Terrorism isn't about religion. It's about power. It's hard to find recruits to sign up for a violent life giving power to sociopaths.
In order to solve this problem, you create an environment where it's easier to recruit. A backlash against Muslims in France could turn them into a despised and oppressed underclass. Which would make it a lot easier to recruit more jihadists, giving the leaders more power. Those new recruits could then carry out more attacks, creating more of a backlash, leading to more repression and even more recruits and power.
That's why the 9/11 attacks were carried out. To get the backlash against all Muslims that has brought much more power to terrorist groups. And the side benefit of knocking off a few competitors via invasions.
Murdoch is doing his part to bring this plan to fruition.
Religion is just the tool being used to manipulate people. The goal is power. The terrorists are smart enough to use it, and Murdoch is dumb enough to fall for it.

Watch for the recruitment of rebels to be stepped up.

(29,322 posts)Oil embargo and the energy crises
In November 1964, Faisal became the new king after the conflicts he had with his brother Saud, the erstwhile king. The U.S, on the other hand was not sure about the outcome of such unplanned change in the Saudi monarchy. King Faisal was cooperating neatly with the U.S. until October 20, 1973; it was the relationship's largest obstacle before 9/11. King Faisal had decided to contribute in an oil embargo against the United States and Europe in favor of the Arab position in the Yom Kippur War causing an energy crisis in the U.S. "America's complete Israel support against the Arabs makes it extremely difficult for us to continue to supply the United States with oil, or even remain friends with the United States" King Faisal in an interview with international media.
Despite the tensions caused by the oil embargo, the U.S. wished to resume relations with the Saudis. Indeed, the great oil wealth accumulated as a result of price increases allowed the Saudis to purchase large sums of American military technology. The embargo was lifted in March 1974 after the U.S. pressured Israel into negotiating with Syria over the Golan Heights. Three months later, "Washington and Riyadh signed a wide-ranging agreement on expanded economic and military cooperation." In the 1975 fiscal year, the two countries signed $2 billion worth of military contracts, including an agreement to send Saudi Arabia 60 fighter jets.[14] The Saudis also argued (partially on behalf of American desires) to keep OPEC price increases in the mid-1970s lower than Iraq and Iran initially wanted.[12] As part of the "twin pillars" strategy, the U.S. also attempted to improve relations between the Saudis and the Iranians, such as by persuading Iran to remove its territorial claim to Bahrain.[15]
The Saudis' increase of oil production to stabilize the oil price and the support of anti-communism have all contributed to closer relations with the U.S.[11] In January 1979, the U.S. sent F-15 fighters to Saudi Arabia for further protection from communism.[11] Furthermore, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia were both supporting anti-communist groups in Afghanistan and struggling countries, the groups later became known as Al-Qaida terrorist organization.[16]
