Christie's records of canceled meetings with Jersey City mayor are subpoenaed: report
Source: NJ.com
Documents that are related to meetings that were canceled between Gov. Chris Christie and Jersey City mayor Steve Fulop have been subpoenaed by federal prosecutors in New Jersey, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Those meetings were allegedly canceled with Jersey Citys mayor after he declined to endorse the governor, according to people familiar with the matter, the paper reported.
U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman issued the subpoenas to Christie's re-election campaign, broadening an investigation related to the George Washington Bridge lane closures, according to the newspaper.
A Christie spokesman declined to comment and there was no response to a request for a comment from a lawyer for the re-election campaign, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Federal prosecutors in New Jersey have subpoenaed Gov. Chris Christies re-election campaign for documents relating to government meetings that were allegedly canceled with Jersey Citys mayor after he declined to endorse the governor, according to people familiar with the matter.
The subpoenas, sent by U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman, are another sign that the yearlong probe into former allies of Mr. Christie has broadened beyond matters directly related to the George Washington Bridge lane closures.

(19,564 posts)I read it in the WSJ, which is subscription and the links only sometimes are public, so I searched for another source where everyone could read about it. I ran into Huffington Post's article first, and wasn't sure if it was a valid news source here or not, thus the NJ article. And I ended up putting the wrong link in the post somehow.
Thank you for pointing it out so politely.

(81,267 posts)I'm old enough to remember Watergate. One of my favorite movies is "All the President's Men." You have to peel the layers like an onion, and go deeper and deeper. Few news outlets have the time, patience, or resources (or what they used to call "I-Teams" - for investigative reporting). And that's unfortunate. It's up to the brave and cleverly resourceful few. But sometimes all it takes is one or two of those - who keep digging and won't give up.

(81,267 posts)He had tons of experience covering New Jersey politics before he got to MSNBC. He is PATHETICALLY ill-used. WHY do they have him buried at "stupid-o'clock" in the morning on a Saturday? He should have his own weekday show. He and Ronan Farrow should trade places. Kornacki deserves a LOT more exposure - especially since Ronan Farrow could use a little bit more "toiling in the back of the vineyard" before he gets star treatment. Came outta nowhere, has famous parents, photographs well, gets Monday-Friday show. WTF? I'd like to see him earn his way into big-time face-time like that. Same for Luke Russert.
