Chick-fil-A investigating possible payment card breach

Source: CNN

By Ashley Fantz,

Chick-fil-A has is working with law enforcement to look into potential unusual activity involving card payments used at a few of their restaurants, the fast-food chain said in a press release on New Year's Eve.

Chick-fil-A did not detail the extent of the possible breach, the number of restaurants or their locations.

The restaurant first learned on December 19 that there was "limited suspicious" payment card activity "appearing to originate from payment cards used at a few of our restaurants."

"We take our obligation to protect customer information seriously, and we are working with leading IT security firms, law enforcement and our payment industry contacts to determine all of the facts," the release read.

Not every customer potentially effected has anything to do with the politics of the company's owners. Laughing at the personal misfortune of innocents, or even one's political opponents, is hardly a demonstration of good character.

It is also a serious crime, terrible breach of privacy, and its success could encourage similar acts against other companies in the future. I doubt you'll be in a equally mirthful mood if more liberally aligned companies like Apple or Starbucks suffers a breach, no less entities like the DNC or Planned Parenthood.
