House Approves $1.1T Spending Bill, Must Now Be Approved By Senate

Source: Associated Press

Updated: Thu 9:49 PM, Dec 11, 2014
By: Associated Press

Republicans have muscled a $1.1 trillion bill financing government agencies through the House after President Barack Obama phoned Democratic lawmakers and urged them to back the measure.

The House approved the measure late Thursday by 219-206.

The compromise bill keeps agencies funded through next September.

Many conservatives opposed it because it did not block Obama's recent executive actions on immigration. A large majority of House Democrats opposed it because of provisions easing some restrictions on banks and allowing higher political contributions by big donors.

The last thing he wanted was to go through history as never signing a budget in 8 years.

how the republicans are trying to put the taxpayers back on the hook for covering the banks for risky investments? If its the donation limit thing I am kinda yawning over because lets be honest with how the rich are using the PACs to funnel money to the varies candidates (mostly republican ones at that) I just dont think letting them do it in public is anymore damaging than what we have now.
Now if its putting the taxpayers at risk for banks when they screw up them ya I can agree with you and I hope they kill that part as its complete and utter bullshit.

No compromise is ever perfect but with the GOP set to control the House and Senate, how bad could it have been if they had just kicked it down the road to February of 2015?

Cue Obama defenders in 3,2,1.
This is how Hillary will run her Presidency, should she become POTUS.
We now openly have only one Party, the Plutocrat Party.

TAKE AWAY THEIR ABILITY TO BUY THESE LOW DOWN, CROOKED SCUMBAGS!!!

Support Bernie Sanders, recruit Elizabeth Warren, and let's fight to outlaw all campaign contributions, Super PAC's, and the revolving door! We must have Publicly Funded Elections (PFE's)!

Our only other choices are Republican, Republican Light (socially liberal to an extent), Libertarian, or Tea Party - All owned by Koch and Company (subsidiary of Wall Street, Big Pharma, MIC, Oil Co.'s, and Insurance)!

We have to work to combine all of the disenfranchised groups (minorities, LGBTV, environmentalists, unions, veterans, elderly, sick, women's rights, teachers, fast food workers...) and attack the root problem of corruption of our election process. It doesn't matter much who we send to Washington much anymore. They buy them faster than we can recruit them. We have to demonstrate that enough of us have finally seen through their propaganda.

Speaking of propaganda, the networks used to be required to air thirty minutes of news each night. Thanks to Fox, they have a Court of Appeals decision that says that it is OK FOR THEM TO LIE TO US BECAUSE THEY ARE "ENTERTAINMENT!" F__k that! We need to also demand that the 6 media companies that control 95% of our newspapers, radio, and TV, be busted up, along with the banking oligopoly on Wall Street!

If we don't act, no one will. The few Statesmen we have are not enough to make any difference.

I had high hopes for eliminating some of this wall street shit, along with the pension cuts, but again its not out of the Senate yet, I have grown very wary of our President..... must not say too much, do want a jury to hide me.... but politics in this country along with the ball less democrats have just about lost me. I will never be a right winger, but my party has let me down.....

Wall Street wants to gamble and steal all the pensions they manage. They plan to make us pay for their shortfall on gas prices. And president Obama gets his immigration plan. We the people have been pawns in a game for the billionaire elite. We lost and we didn't even get to play. Send reps and president your disapproval.

We suspected all along the reason the crooks on Wall St never faced any prosecutions during the financial fiasco, so now we see them in full support of taxpayer insurance for the big banks again. At least Pelosi called it for what it was, and I commend her for being with the real Dems. What a sellout!
