(9,350 posts)The police are saying it looks like a self inflicted gun shot wound even though he was found in a dumpster. So, did he get in the dumpster before he shot himself? If he did not, how did he get into the dumpster after he shot himself? Is everyone supposed to believe that if he did not get into the dumpster before he shot himself that someone walked upon the body and then put it into the dumpster? I realize a gun was found near the body, but there still needs to be an investigation into what happened to Kostas Karageorge.

Also...was the gun in the dumpster with him?
was in the dumpster with him-at least that's what it said. Not sure how to put this, but maybe he didn't want others to find him or have to clean up after him if you get my drift.

(70,589 posts)He left a kind of suicide note for his mother prior to him "going missing" and
he had just had a fight w/his girlfriend too. He was a really big man @ 6'5" and
285 LBS it would have been really hard for a person or persons to put him in
the dumpster.
My guess is that he might have had CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy)
and that brought about his depression and then his suicide.

(260 posts)At this time CTE can only be diagnosed after death so I would hope that an autopsy would reveal it if present.

(9,350 posts)I really am not trying get to be a butt. I understand your anger at/with football. However, there are a number of sports where fans cheer as individuals beat the poop out of each other. Boxing is a sport that takes a toll on a number of the people, mainly men, who participate. Muhammed Ali is probably the most famous person to show possible affects of boxing, but a number of men have ended up with brain damage. Others sports are also brutal and can have negative affects on the people who play them.

(62,276 posts)The autopsy report will have all those details.
Whenever cops report "apparent suicide" that doesn't mean the case is instantly closed. It's an open investigation until the coroner reports it. They'll be asking around, too, seeing if he had any enemies on campus, stuff like that.

(2,004 posts)The death rate of young men from suicides by guns needs thoroughly investigated. It is far too high and it is ignored.
May his family find peace and healing.

(9,999 posts)not everyone reacts to concussions the same way. I do know something about that, having spent 26 years in nursing and also having had 2 children who played sports and had concussions (although, ironically, my daughter's did not come from sports, but from a fall incurred while playing "Mary Lou Retton on the balance beam" on the back of the couch at the age of 6). Some people have few aftereffects, some have very bad ones, others have a period of extreme irritability as my daughter did, others are angry or suffer depression. You just never can tell. It's like any head injury and the results are unpredictable. Depression and suicide among young people are in epidemic proportions and not nearly enough attention is being paid to either.
