Pope condemns Islamic State violence

Source: AP-EXCITE

JERUSALEM (AP) — On the eve of a trip to the Middle East, Pope Francis is urging religious and political leaders to speak out against attacks on Christians by Islamic State extremists.

In an interview published Thursday, Francis was quoted as saying that the persecution of Christians today is "the worst" it has been since Christianity's earliest days. "In Iraq, for example, barbaric, criminal indescribable things are being committed," he was quoted as telling the Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot.

Francis told the newspaper that the persecution of Christians, Yazidis and other ethnic communities requires both political and religious leaders, especially Muslims, to "take a clear and brave stand."

that the solution is for the west and associated allies to stop supporting extremists.

Maybe Bush, Cheney and Blair can have a word with their oil-rich buddies.

We were lulled into a false sense of security, the neocons never went away. They were there in the background all the time, waiting to come back into the light.

(FWIW citing Bush-Cheney and Blair is just short hand for neocon policies).

Nor were they major changes when they assumed office.

Step back, have a look at the big picture, and you'll realize that US foreign policy hasn't changed in any appreciable way since the Truman administration. It's all about expanding and maintaining an empire. The only major change is replacing "Communists" with "terrorists," but other than semantics, same deal.

In fact, I believe at least one of his right hand men was a Christian.

That ended when Bush invaded.

Saddam personally planned the attack and piloted all of the airliners.

He parachuted from the planes into nuclear facilities, stole weapons grade plutonium, then escaped to Baghdad via his secret undersea train system.

That's why Republicans bravely oppose new rail infrastructure.

If Dubya hadn't have hit him there, he would have hit us here... again... on Dubya's watch.

Of course I'm on cold medication today so please don't quote me.

I was talking to an eyewitness of the whole thing
He said he saw it all from his window at the State Mental Hospital
'Some people say' he is psychotic, suffers from hallucinations and is schizophrenic. But he seemed pretty lucid to me.

Now, if you'll excuse me... I'm off to my Tea Party Meeting, followed by my meeting with 'Americans for Birth Certificate Integrity', then it's golf with Donald Trump and Alex Jones

And I use the word genocide advisedly.

That said, ISIS has killed way more Muslims than members of any other sect.
