............The explainer, written by Vox's Dylan Matthews, pokes a few holes in the governor's proposal under the headline, "Scott Walker's food stamp drug testing plan is illegal and (probably) unconstitutional."
Walker, in mid-September, released a 62-page plan called "Continuing Wisconsin's Comeback." It summarized some highlights of his first term, contrasted his approach with that of Democratic challenger Mary Burke and included a handful of new proposals.
...... Walker's plan would require working-age recipients of public benefits to undergo drug testing.
The governor was upfront in acknowledging that the proposal won't likely pass muster under federal law, but said it's the right approach for Wisconsin.
"We believe that there will potentially be a fight with the federal government and in court ... Our goal here is not to make it harder to get government assistance; it's to make it easier to get a job," Walker told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.................

How does drug testing help one get a job??
If companies want to drug test--so be it--at their expense not taxpayer dollars!!

Plain Talk: No, Scott, you're not a Wisconsin progressive : Ct
No kidding. Gov. Walker actually told the Wall Street Journal that he fits into the progressive tradition of Wisconsin's Robert M. La Follette.

(3,521 posts)It really doesn't matter to him at all. This is just red meat being tossed to the tea partiers and racists who supported him. His hope is that they will be so focused on this issue that they will not notice his plans to increase utility rates and state fees. In other words, he hopes they will be so ecstatic at poor people being screwed that they will not notice that it is them who are being royally screwed.

(18,650 posts)... I ask why they want to do such a thing. The answer is always that "if they can afford drugs, they don't need welfare on my dime".
Now these are often old friends and peers so I follow up with another quick series of questions: "Do you pay for all the drugs you do?" "When you smoke a joint with friends, do they hit you up for a dollar every time you hit it?" "Any time you did a line of coke at a party, did you notice the pretty girls (or anyone else) reaching into their pockets for money?" Failing a drug test does not mean someone paid a nickel for anything. It can merely indicate they have a social life.
It's funny that these stingy conservatives completely forget a lifetime of illicit experience because of something Hannity said. Often these same people add body ink to the reason to ban someone, ignoring that the tat may be decades old, or that many I've seen appear to have been done for free in a friend's basement with a needle and thread.

(24,720 posts)I think everyone should send this little right wing fascist a can of dog and cat food and then he should be drug tested, what's good for the citizens of this state his good for him also, in fact before he is sworn in the citizens of the state should demand a drug test everyone else has to have one wants make him so god damn special.
This hypocrite rates at 46 in job growth and he cut programs to create jobs just like his right buddy Chris Christie (rank 49),
and if people go hungry and die because of this hypocrites austerity program, then he should be charged with a crime, he really has been drinking the Kool Aid ---end of story
