Israel To Step Up Demolition Of Palestinian Homes

Source: Associated Press

JERUSALEM — Israel said Monday it has sent notices to the families of several Palestinians in the West Bank implicated in attacks against Israelis to vacate their homes ahead of their impending demolitions.

The development indicated that Israel is intensifying its much maligned policy of punitive destructions of homes of suspected attackers.

The assaults the attackers are accused of involved deadly intent against civilians — ramming vehicles into commuters at Jerusalem light rail platforms, for example — rather than just throwing stones or Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli military said that in recent weeks, an unspecified number of notices warning of impending house demolitions have been issued to Palestinian families in the West Bank, whose relatives had carried out the attacks.

It is moronic and counterproductive. Israel stopped doing this because it provided terrorists an amazing recruitment tool.

I don't support bulldozing homes but can you really compare throwing millions of people into ovens with knocking down the house of those who butchered 4 people in a temple today? It's comments like that that make it impossible to take someone like you seriously. It's pathetic and the reason nobody in power takes this site seriously at all.

In my younger days I was a fulsome supporter of Israel. Now that Israelis no longer act in any way like a people with any interest in peace, or in humane behavior, or in justice, I no longer find it possible to support them.

I do, however, support the idea of a massive and generous refugee resettlement program for any and all Israelis (Jewish or Palestinian) who wish to leave. I think the numbers of refugees will swell as it becomes increasingly evident to anyone with eyes that Israel has become a militarized but failed state, with no viable long-term future.

Is real has had more than 60 years to make peace with its neighbours and has failed entirely to achieve this goal, a goal which their right wing majority and right wing government itself no longer believes in. That's a failed state, failed despite the billions in economic aid provided by US and international donors
